Re: My tank is almost 'done'

Looking good! I especially like the orange fabric and the sepia tone to the pictures. Your tank really pops in that setting! It's so clear. It reminds me of the Windex commercial with the magpies who ring the door bell and shut the sliding glass door so when the man returns he runs into the glass. Be careful, we know you can be prone to accidents

Re: My tank is almost 'done'

honestly the image coloration was a bit of a technical issue with the camera (white balance autobalanced white from the tank which totally threw of the room lighting) but it is a very cool mistake indeed, which is why i didnt fix it.

ive been told that my system is very clear. im not sure why it stands out so much because i dont feel ive done anything special to earn the compliment. i mean it does appear very clear to me. my levels are now all 0s, and i still have almost no algae growing. i attribute this to the amount of caulerpa i have which is stealing the film algaes food.

as for my nicest socks, yep, thats the nice one. i wouldnt wanna kill the fish with my "weekday" socks.

the new plumbing is working very well. not pictured is the mofication i made to my overflow. i dremeled teeth into the skimmer box so that it can skim and get a nice water volume. it worked like a charm. not only that, my dremel work looks nice! this is a first for me lol. anyway, i now have a decent amount of water moving through my sump, and no air bubbles.

also i got the powerhead running. it pumps water from the first chamber of the sump into the refigum.

my next project is my protein skimmer... im working on a few ideas and will update the thread i started about it once i get a good idea of how i plan to make it happen.

thanks for all the advice, compliments and help. except for you sasquatch. no thanks to you! youre hairy and smell bad. like... like a ... like a sasquatch.

Re: My tank is almost 'done'

My airpump arrived yesterday so i started up my skimmer. I woke this morning to find foam already rising into the collection cup and a few drops of skimmate forming in the collection cup. WOOT!

once again a ton of thanks to sasquatch, dentoid, and of course igerold for the help with the skimmer and pretty much everything else!
