thanks. its getting even prettier too

my overflow box will be here on friday and will startup the sump. ive also successfully evicted a gorrilla crab, but still have some possible mantis shrimp. i also added a color background.. i went with the blue side. the black seemed kinda flat, and it also reveals streaks, algae, and the occasional floating debris moreso than the blue did. (sry dentoid!)

also, i am gonna go ahead and get a piece of glass cut to put ontop of the tank (only like 1/4 of the dept, so there will be air exchange) to place another strip light on with a 10000k bulb. i know its kinda cheesy to have 2 20 watt strip lights, but its the best i can do for now, and i figure everyone will like that extra bulb. im currently using a 50/50 bulb (actinic and 6400k... or whatever the 6 something k value is...)

pics once i get the sump going!

Re: My tank is almost 'done'

i had a HOB filter running on this thing while waiting for my sump. i have a feeling the mechanical filtration did a lot for water clarity, as well as the myriad of worms and feather dusters that came on that rock. i notice new ones everyday.

in fact, my sand is practically live sand already! its packed with pods, worms, and feathers! i love this TBS live rock.

Don't be so hard on yourself. It's not a cheesy video, it shows what you are doing in real time and thats great. Your ambition is to be commended! Looking forward to more videos. BTW, how is that abdominal gash doing?

Re: My tank is almost 'done'

Thanks, but unless you are going to keep the back glass clean, the back ground color doesn't really matter in the long run. By the time coralline algae covers the back wall it will take on a different more "tanky" look. My wife loves the purple color of the coralline algae covering the glass (I made the mistake of taking her to the lfs), but I like the glass clean and IMO the black gives it more depth. To keep peace in the family I will probably let the coralline grow on the back glass, however.

I like the Banggai Cardinals, they are a striking fish and very unusual. Glad to hear you are healing.

You know I was looking at the title "My tank is almost 'done' "

I've had my tank for over two years now and it's still "almost done"

you may have developed an alergy to latex. It would be a good idea to get tested in case you ever need surgery.

Re-plumbed sump. hopefully this takes care of my trouble with the balancing act. i also dremeled teeth into the overflow skimmer box. believe it or not, they look professional too!

ill be adding a powerhead to get some water flowing into the refugium soon.
