| Fire Coral | Re: 87G AGA Eventual reef To update I would like mention the following. The Astrea snails are really mobile since they found out were the glass is and help keep it clean. I also added a Lawnmower Blenny to my system; I think that he/she is the most effective and aggressive algae eater in my tank now. My other two fish are Gobies which seemed to be a pair in my dealer’s tank. The last fish added were on Aug. 03, since all my tank parameters seem ok: pH 8.2 SG 1.025 Alkalinity 8.1dkh Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 Next on my list are 4 or 5 Chromis Viridis which I’m on the lookout for. Are there too many fish or can I add more later on? Is the algae too much to add a coral???? (Cannot wait!!!) or is it still too soon? When I have my Coral list finalized I will upload it for some advise. Pictures soon to come. |

| Fire Coral | Re: 87G AGA Eventual reef On the bottom of my tank is mostly aglae and a sand like substance from the live rock. Not realy sure if I want substrate in my tank yet. If i add aragonite it will not be alive, do you think dead aragonite will start another cycle? |

| Golden Moray | Re: 87G AGA Eventual reef Your tank is so nice, for appearance I would consider either adding some kind of substrate (even just a thin layer of sand) or meticulously siphoning the detritus, algae, and rock particles daily. I have no substrate in my QT and I have to siphon it thoroughly to keep it from looking "dirty". I'll defer to someone more knowlegable about whether the tank will cycle again if you add substrate. |

| Fire Coral | Hello everyone. I have the following dilemmas: 1. I really want to get a tang . That was to the point lol. I like the fact that they are quite active swimming around and will graze on the algae growing on the live rock aquarium walls etc. If I add a tang to my system it will be one of the last, if not the last, fish added. I know that the size of my tank is on the small side, which is why I ask for your input. Is there a “small” tang I could get in the future for my specific setup? Or is there a tang that will be happy in my tank size.2. If a tang is totally out of the question my second choice is a dwarf Angelfish, probably a Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loriculus). This fish is second choice compared to a tang because I read in Robert Fenners Marine Aquarist that angels in general might nibble at coral polyps and Tridacna clams. I would not like my center piece fish attacking the other inverts. Anyone have experience with this angel. Any thought of info would be great. 3. I’m also considering dripping calcium as “Kalkwasser” to my tank. The truth is that I don’t know if I can commit to the fact that I have to mix a new solution everyday. Will there be a problem if I skip a day or two and not add “Kalkwasser” to my system? *** Just a reminder Dimensions: 120L x 60W x 55Hcm (47L x 23W x 21H inch) |

| Golden Moray | Re: 87G AGA Eventual reef lcstorc had a small Flame Angelfish I believe. You may want to ask her. I think she removed it because it was picking on corals. Did you check out the sticky thread called So you want a tang? So you want a tang? |
