MY 75 Gallon BAR TOP!

Ok so i have decided to start a thread about my 75 GAL and continue to update it as i have been reading everyones threads in the Reef Chronicles Forums and its intresting to watch their tank grow and grow.

Well here is my 75 Gallon

The beginning (Front)

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2.../random169.jpg

The Beginning (Back)

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2.../random170.jpg

It started out a dream, pondering weather or not I would be able to pull off a beautiful aquarium... Going off of my Local Fish Stores advise for a Beginner I started. Bought some instant ocean salt and started going at it with the wonderful (sarcasm) tap water Huntsville, Tx provides! Hooked up my 2 fuvual 305's and she came to life!

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...4/IMG_4562.jpg
HA a week and a half later im going back to the LFS to test the water, still not having a clue what i was doing and ALL my specs were off the charts but the she told me that its normal so i was a little more relaxed... then some of the best news ever came to me... she said come back in a week and you will be ready for some fish... Little did i know those fish were Damisles. a week later I go back and i picked up 5 fish ALL Damsels. A Yellow tail, blue devil, yellow, domino, and one other... forgot what it was lol. 2 Never survived the Cycle and 3 of them did. The yellow, yellow tail, and the blue devil. Next was the LR. I started looking a prices of LR and WOW all a pretty penny lol. so i bought 5 LBS worth to get things moving a little the biological filtration going a little faster.
Finally the Cycle was ALOMOST OVER and then JACKPOT a friend of my dads was getting rid of his tank due to twins heading his way. I came by and he sold me 50 Lbs of his 16 Year old LR from his reef tank along with some test kits and a scrubber for ONLY 150$!

This is what it looked like and i liked it but it needed MORE!

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...quarium001.jpg

The Following weekend i struck a deal with him. I would buy the rest of his LR for 2.50 a LB and there was 60 LBS left so the next week I went over there and got the rest of his 16 Year old LR and bam in the tank it goes

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...quarium012.jpg

Now were talkin... I was even more happy with my tank!

Then made a Newbie Mistake and went to Petco to get my water tested and get some clown fish if everything tested out ok turns out my ALK was WAY to low and they both ended up dieing.

Next came my Foxface

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...4/IMG_4572.jpg

Then waited a little while and got my Xeina

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...4/IMG_4575.jpg

I began to learn that patience is THE KEY as the Xeina came with about 30 polyps and now there are around 45

Then came my the one fish that has inspired me through and through to keep on going ... my new addition, my powder blue tang

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h2...4/IMG_4579.jpg

Im mad at myself that i did not take off the flash of that would have been an amazing picture. But anyway that is my tank hope you enjoyed i will be updating my thread as i start to gather more and more corals soon! Thanks for Viewing!

Here are most recent pictures!

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~
