| Over Achiever | Re: Dentoid's Reeforama Well, I've been observing Kelli all day, off and on. She is hanging out under a ledge and hides when I approach the tank. I forgot how small she was and can understand why she is so timid. I think as she gets bigger she will be able to hold her own. This is one stunning specimen! ![]() Thanks everybody for your well wishes, support and encouragement. You know I will get pictures up just as soon as I am able to catch a shot of her. |

| Beautiful Katamari | Re: Dentoid's Reeforama Hey Scott i have a question for you. I have read in a couple of places that due to them being territorial a long nose hawk fish should be added after other fish in your tank. Is that your experience? I was thinking of making the long nose my first addition. What do you think? Glad Kelli came out of hiding.

| Watch this Ma! | Re: Dentoid's Reeforama That is really interesting about the longnose hawk fish. That was on my original "must have" list for stocking, as were cleaner shrimp. LFS said the hawk will eat the shrimp. I decided on the shrimp.

| Over Achiever | Re: Dentoid's Reeforama I have a Skunk cleaner and 2 fire shrimps. So far so good. The shrimps are equal in size or bigger than the Longnose, he doesn't bother them. My understading is that the Longnose, although it will eat smaller shrimp species, is the most reef safe of all the hawks. To tell you the truth, I don't think my Longnose could open his mouth wide enough to even grab the shrimps I have. Just make sure your shrimps are larger if you want a Longnose hawk! |

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: Dentoid's Reeforama I can back up Scott's experience with the longnose. I know mine isn't fully grow, but 3/4 full grown and my skunk cleaners are still alive and healthy. He will snag krill out of my hand. He does try to eat pieces entirely too large so I break the krill up into smaller pieces. But he doen't bother my shrimp though. Watch, when I get home it will be total carnage. lol
