Still haven't seen the little guy. If he is hiding, he's doing a great job of it!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Yeah, I've been wanting to do a series of FTSs with the Solaris at different K temperatures, but haven't gotten around to it. I've had a nasty head cold since Thanksgiving and haven't felt like doing much. I'll get them up soon! I'm up to 90% white LED at this point. Everything is doing great.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

For new house/tank build I'd like to get the Solaris. Might as well go for it while we're getting the loan right? I've heard that the energy consumption is nearly half of metal halide. When my MH come on my meter starts spinning like the one in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation! Have you noticed any "less" spinning? You know, ammunition for the wifesell...

Sorry about your new fishy buddy.

Not to hijack your thread Scott .....

Jack, is the new Solaris also available with 220 V connection for the European market?

You're not hijacking Heinz. I can answer that. Yes, the power supply does have a switch to make it universal and will accept 220V, all you need is a plug adapter.

Greg, definately go for it, it is well worth it!

Jack, I haven't seen my first power bill, but I'm convinced it's going to be lower.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

This is a series of pictures with the Solaris keeping the Day White LEDs at 100% and increasing the Day Blue LED by 10% in each shot. The first shot is 100% White:50% Blue, The last shot is 100:100.

This series of shots is keeping the Blue LEDs at 100% and decreasing the White LEDs by 10% in each shot. The first shot is 90% White:100% Blue. The last shot is 0%White:100%Blue.

100% White : 50% Blue

50% White : 100% Blue

0% White : 100% Blue

As you can see the Kelvin temperature is easily adjusted with the push of a button. Here is the LCD display. It is located on the front of the fixture.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Whoa!! Thanks for the pictures. That seems to be one heck of a lighting system. Have you noticed any diferent behaviors with your corals. Polyp extension, coloration, etc. Thanks again for the update.~Michael

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

the last 30% (3 photos) in the "Blue LEDs at 100% and decreasing the White LEDs by 10%" you really see the change.

That is one sweet lighting setup you've got Dentoid. When I'm sitting in my living room reading via the MH and then *poof* its off and I cant even see the words on my page, i realize how nice some type of dimming system would be hahahah. i wonder how the fish feel about it.

I have noticed a change in the color and polyp extension. I really think the corals like the new lighting.

The fish seem to be swimming around more and not staying behind the rockwork. I don't know if that is because of the light or that I've cut back on the feeding.

Here are a few more shots I took today while I was messing around with my camera.

Black Tubastrea.

Sun Coral.

Mystery wrasse.

Duncanopsammia.

Detail.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Gotta love those Duncans. Let me know if you see any difference in your Nirtate levels, now that you are feeding less. ~Michael
