Melanie! You're not kidding! It took about three hours of soaking in vinegar and scrubbing with a toothbrush!

Heinz, you read my mind. I'm starting to get a little corraline growth on my korralias and I tried to wipe it off...no luck.

It might be easier if I come there! You pay the airfare and I'll clean your pumps!

...twinkle, twinkle ....... try citric acid.

To buy as a powder which can dissolve in water. Is totally non-toxic and naturally degradable. The pump a few minutes to bathe, ready.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Scott, you could send Stuart Little around in a box to do tank cleaning!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Scott - I got some of that red algae from a friend, I grow it in the sump and feed it to my foxface every now and then, he LOVES it!

For those that have never seen this pump, here is a picture of the intratank component disassembled. The mechanical part of the pump and the cord hang on the outside of the tank. The intratank and extratank components are held by magnetic forces, through the glass, which also make the propeller spin.

Here's the pump assembled on the tank.

These are the wireless controllers. One can be set as the master pump controller and it controls the other, the slave pump. One can have up to 7 slave pumps controlled by a single master pump.

This pretty red macro algae was growing inside the propeller housing when I cleaned it. I put it in my fuge.

Nice clean up job!

I learned my lesson the hard way... lost 2 Korallia's from excessive build-up recently...
