Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Eagle eyes, you'll need a light for the cheato. Where is Dentoid anyway?

It reads like a true novel (one because it is 26 pages long) mostly because there are all kinds of happy moments etc. and when your heater blew my heart skipped a couple of beats!! Not to mention your trips to your LFS are like plot twists.. So thank you for your thread, i just read it all the way through in one sitting!
Thank you for your kind words Eagleyes. Yes I do have a light over my fuge. Chaeto, a macro algae requires light for photosynthesis. I have a 18W power compact sitting over my fuge. Many reefers use an incandescent bulb with a clip on light fixture from a home improvement store.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

lol i thought that maybe it didnt require as much light or something, so you could house it in what very low light there is in the sump down below. There is like a 15 watt PC i know about that looks good enough for the job. Thanks!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Thanks for stopping by Murky!

Got home from the office tonight to find my Royal Gramma DOA. Seemed to be alright yesterday, but I did notice it flashing. I suspect the dreaded ich! In this hobby, it's take 2 steps forward and 3 steps backwards. UGH!

I added a Cheurb angel last Saturday, perhaps it brought something into the tank. I will never add another fish without QT first-lesson learned! I pray that this is not the start of something horrific. I slap myself and take that back. This was an isolated incident and won't happen again-there that's better!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Crossing my fingers too! My Palani Tang has his fins double crossed for you! Be prepared though, make sure your QT is well cycled, read up on hyposalinity treatments just in case, and get lots of RO water ready.

Karma for your fishies!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Thanks everyone! Once again I've been entertaining. My sister-in-law and niece have been in town.

I must admit, I've been a little down. My Derasa clam died sometime Friday night. When I awoke Saturday it was gone, out of its shell, the clean up crew made short order of that delicacy. Then Saturday night, again during sleeping hours, a snail got jammed in the Vortex pump causing it to disengauge and the propeller housing fell on my BTA, killing it. My clowns are beside themselves trying to host with everything in the tank, but they keep returning to the spot where the anemone took up residence, waiting for it to come out.

Dotty has moved to the right, front of the tank. I think something else moved into her old home forcing her out on her tail fin. Otherwise, she is doing good.

I do suspect ich in the tank, although I don't see spots, except for the occasional one or two on the Hippo tang, I don't plan on moving the fish. I've been feeding them highly nutritious foods, soaked in garlic and Selcon and have been ensuring good water quality. Fortunately, no fish has lost its appetite. I'll keep you posted.
