Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Make sure your readings are good. The Blue Spot and Clam shouldn't put too much biload on your tank. Add the fish from the quarantine one at a time and make sure things level out between each additition.

Good luck!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Great idea about putting the heater in an eggcrate cage. I think I may do that with mine this weekend. It should protect it at least some.
So sorry you are going through this. I hope everything is ok.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

I've done 2 WC's and am just now acclimating the newcomers. Blue Spot is alive and kicking in the bag. Not too sure about the clam. It may be on the way out. I'm not too concerned about the shroom rock. So far the mortality count:
Fox Face-Doing well in QT
Clowns x2-Doing well in QT
Long Nose Hawk-Doing well in QT
Six Line Wrasse=Died
Flame Angel-Died
Royal Gramma-Can't tell, moves when I touch it, stays against rock in QT
Yellow Tang-Alive, but laying on bottom of QT, prognosis poor.
All corals (hammer, torch, star polyps, shrooms) doing well in display, have been open all day.
Fire shrimp-Fair, hanging out in display, kind of stunned.
Hermits, snails seem fine
Anemone-Pouty, not too sure of its pronosis.
Peppermint Shrimp have seen 3 of 4, seem fine, moving around and picking at the rocks in display.
Watchman Goby-Can't find, may be in hole under 180 lbs LR.
I've removed all fish, except Watchman, from display.
I'm exhausted! Will post more after acclimation. Thank to everyone that has sent well wishes, you are all so kind.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Thanks everyone! It's great to be a part of such a wonderful support group and know that brilliant minds are just a click away! I don't know what I would have done without RS. Special thanks to Bluespotjawfish. Her PM's have helped to get me through this.

The tank is still not 100%, but it so much better now than this morning. The new clam is in the tank, open to all its glory and responsive to movement outside the tank. The new mushroom rock is in and they are also open. Blue Spot is in the QT. He was just breathing too heavy in the display. I feel like there is somehow a lack of oxygen in the display. I was told by the makers of the heater that the fish were not electrocuted. I don't know why? He said something about arcing and carbon compounds. Possibly that used up all the oxygen. The ammonia spike was from the skimmer overflowing and what little skimmate was in there went into the sump. The fish were all gasping for air and stunned. They were all easy to catch, putting up no fight. The Yellow Tang died in the last hour. The Royal Gramma is coming around. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

I've switched over to the Stealth. Has a plastic component housing. The guy that I talked to told me I could send the broken one back and they'd send me another one. He said I could get the Stealth when I told him I didn't want another glass one. I'll make a nice backup.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Just found another use for the plastic netting I am getting - I can wrap my heater in it.

I'm glad to hear you are able to slow down a bit. Goodness... Just remember to do what Cesar Millan does - assert your positive energy to your fish! They need a leader (or a doggy to call their own).

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Thanks Bluespot. Good news! My Yellow Watchnman goby has come out. He's proped up on a rock looking for some food. How come he wasn't affected? Perhaps, because he's in a hole, under a rock? I needed this.
