Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Great pictures Scott!! My Bluespot seems to have a few spot every once in a while as well. They disappear after a few days. He looks much like your little guy. At first, I was a little concerned because I had lost my other guys. Now, I think that it is from digging and moving around his area. He has been eating extremely well and looks very happy in his home. By the way, I love your little hogfish!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I just realized it's been awhile since I've updated my chronicle. Here is a FTS under the moonlight. Solaris set at 5% blue LEDs.

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Wow! I really like the moonlights provided by the Solaris. Of course, it really helps having a tank that is worth seeing at night.

Awesome tank, Scott!

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Wow, that's freaky lookin'! Did you use a long exposure to get that much light and detail in the photo since the lights were at 5%?

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

I showed Patti your moonlight shot. I said "See! That's what the 450 will look like at night. Especially when I add in the other 48" Solaris that I need to buy."

Then I said:

Patti?

Patti?

Are you ok?

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Tank looks beautiful.
Have you developed an opinion on the Solaris now that you have had it for a while?

Re: Dentoid's Reeforama

Thanks everyone I'm glad you like the photograph!

Greg, I did use a setting that would keep the shutter open, but was still automatic. Also a tripod. I altered the photo in iphoto. When I took the picture every thing was blue you couldn't make out any color. The camera does not pick up what it really looks like. I toned it down by removing blue that allowed the colors to come through. The photo is more like what it looks like in person. I tried to get that eerie, fluorescence to come through.

Terry, that's a riot! Please pick Patti up off the floor!

Lynn, I love the Solaris. Wouldn't exchange it for the best MH fixture. I'm going to have to wait longer for the opinion on whether I'm saving on electricity. There are a lot of factors here. One I set up my QT as a frag tank last summer and started running a 150MH fixture. I didn't set up the Solaris until Nov 07. Also, the climate here is a factor and determins how much power we use to heat the house. I need more data. I probably won't now for at least a year

Here is some preliminary data.

Dec. 06 we used 1802 kWs Dec. 07 1926 kWs
Jan. 07 1600kWs Jan. 08 2410 kWs
Feb. 07 2124kWs Feb 08 2054 kWS

* The period Dec. 06-Feb. 07 I did not have the frag tank
* The same period I was running 2-150 W MHs and 2-96 W actinics on my DT.
* The period Dec. 07-Feb. 08 I had the Solaris but was running 1-150W MH on my frag tank.
*I didn't set the frag tank up until July or Aug. 07.
