Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Boy, I hope I never get one of those crabs. They seem to have read the book on how to catch crabs. They really are evil!

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Thanks everyone.

Have you heard? My Salmon Ricordia is back! Yippee-yeah!

Now for the new slugs. In the first photo you can see a flatworm on my xenia saying come and get me if you dare! I siphoned off all I could find and dipped all my mushroom rocks tonight, but I am sure there are more. I've turned off my internal pumps to give these guys a chance.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Here's the salmon ric in it's new home! All the rics have been moved to the 50. They seem to like it there so far. There is less flow in that tank and they are opening even more.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

A very pretty ric. I've tried the netting on rics several times for up to almost a month. It seems to me that it works for some and not for others. Hope it works for you.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

That's the prettiest slug I've ever seen! I hope it takes care of that darn flatworm problem!

BTW, how'd you find the Ricordia? Did it just float by one day?

It is often used for the fight against flatworms. Chelidonura varians eats exclusively flatworms, is none more in the aquarium present, it dies.

Yes. Sounds like a job for "Rent a Slug" or maybe, "Have slug, will travel".

yepp .... ....I have already made that with some friend's here in Germany . Well, here in Germany that is not a problem, the way is always very short. If one mails an animal in the evening, it arrived on the next morning already.

"Have slug, will travel" .... I find the thoughts not bad.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

This slug is pretty, but it's life span is only about 1-1/2 months long so don't feel too bad! They are also very pricey flatworm control! Fortunately, I think my Mandarin has also started to acquire a taste for them. I find it hanging out by the mushrooms more and more. But, there are lots of other things hidden in the mushrooms too.

I haven't seen a flatworm since Friday. Then again, I haven't seen them in the other tank either (without all these extra helpers). Whatever gets them I don't really care, I'm just hoping they are gone for good!
