That photo show was the bomb, I had to watch it twice! Your tank is super-stupendously spectacular! I would watch it from my car, my boat (if I had one), even from a UFO. Why would a Blues spot want to jump from there?

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Thanks guys, I guess I will need to include a warning with the next show so no one watches it while driving - haha!

Bluespot doesn't want to jump, he is very happy where he is. Food comes to him, he doesn't have to go anywhere for it, he can play peek a boo with mommy...

I was thinking more at a drive in theater. Your photo show on the big screen! "Blue Spot is ready for his close-up Mr DeMill."

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Blue is in a difficult place for pics right now, so we will wait.

I stayed away from the LFS today. Don't know, must be gettin' sick.
At the OnlineFS, I was still able to spend lots of $. Ordered a Reefkeeper 2 and also a Tunze Osmolator. I'm going to be spoiled real soon!

Good choices. Hope bluespot moves to a better location soon. I have to survive on pics of yours for now since I still can't find one. Guess I need to watch your slideshow again.

Question Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Been a while since I reported water parameters:
Ammonia and Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = 5-10
Phosphate = .5 - 1
Salinity = 1.0245
Alk = 12.5 dKH
Calc = 445 (have been supplementing Bionic Part 2 to match higher alk level)
Magnesium = 1365 (supplement 2 X wk to keep at this level)
Iodine = .03 - .06 (Lugols 1/2 dose 2 x wk to keep at this level)
Strontium = 0-3 (Added supplement today, haven't retested yet.)
PH = 8.0 (Salifert Test); 7.9 (PH Pen) (Doesn't go up after aerating, SW mix of IO and Oceanic is 7.9 according to the pen)
Temp = 78-80

Still doing WC two times a week for now. Even though I did one Thursday, I did a partial change today to vacuum the sand, which I haven't done for a month. Hopefully doing that and adding the fuge will kick the rest of the nitrates out the door.

Ok, time to ask a few questions that have been on my mind:

Bleaching mushrooms- (Ricordias and fuzzies, doesn't seem to matter if they are placed either in the top or bottom half of tank.) I have been running 2 VHOs for 12 hours and the other 2 for 9 hours. Now I am running a total of 9 hours, with the timing staggered so that each light runs about 7 hours each. Suggestions? Thoughts? Anyone know if anything else would cause this (low iodine, mag, or strontium)? I have been supplementing I got my test kit a few weeks ago, but stopped my supplements previously since I was making so many water changes. I have several other mushrooms in the tank also that are fine, but each day I am seeing a few more problems.

My PH also doesn't make any sense to me based on what I have read. My tank has always been at 8.0, with an alk around 17dKH because of the tap water I used to use. It's now lower (though still high), and the PH appears to be changing slightly. Since I am already at the low end, I'm nervous. Since Kalk or other buffers would raise the alk, I don't consider adding anything to fix it an option for now, do you? The IO has a higher PH than the Oceanic, but it also has a higher alk, which is why I am currently mixing them (so I can get my alk into the normal range). I get the higher calc in the Oceanic, and get better PH with the IO. Since the aerating didn't change the PH, I don't think it is CO2 even though the main tank is covered. The sump is wide open, and the CO2 monitor for the house reads 0.

Ok, I emptied my brain.
