Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

I hope the clown doesn't irritate/over stimulate the RBTA in it's weakened condition. Good luck!

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

I don't think the clown will bother it. He has 4 anemones to choose from. He was hanging out in the GBTA but it closed for a bit, so he moved over to this one. The GBTA is open again and he has moved back to the happy anemone.

Wow! I have missed a lot. Glad things are moving back in a good direction. Hope the nem continues to heal.
Sorry about the clarkis. Mine died too. Do you know what happened to yours? Mine there was no explanation. Water tested good, they were eating, etc just came home from work to find remains.

I saw you lost yours. I'm glad you were able to find a replacement. I killed mine by sucking up into the cleaning tube. You just gotta watch your kids at all times I tell you!

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Excellent news about your BTA Sorry to hear about your clownfish

Once I sucked up a harlequin shrimp while siphoning! The poor thing was smushed inside the tube like it was shrinkwrapped. It lost two legs but lived! The legs grew back after a several molts.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Ok Woody, I wasn't going to mention the anemone crab. He is doing fine though.

The RBTA is totally deflated today, but has moved onto the rock and is securely attached. No sliming that I can tell, so I think it is still doing ok.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Deflation is not a sign of dieing. From the pictures it looks like it should recover over time.
I am glad it moved over to the other anemones. My suns do better grouped with other suns. Maybe there is a connection.
You all need to use the large tube for the python when doing water changes. It has a more gentile draw that way and you get more water area also.
Kep up the good work Lorraine!

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

I always use the python for the display, but since this tank started as a QT and I didn't want to mix equipment I setup this tube for the time being. I do need to change. My male Pyle Wrasse likes to hang out by the tube when I am cleaning. Had to watch him real close yesterday. I guess my fish just love me and want to be close to me, right?

The RBTA continues to improve. It was open all evening and is open this morning before the lights are even on. BTW, the anemone crab has grown another leg.

Question - The RBTA is still on the rock in the back and isn't getting much light. I don't need to feed it do I? My clown has not been back to it as far as I know.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

You can feed it indirectly with DT's or some other coral and invert food. I would not worry about the lighting issue atm. It will move to where it needs to be. Just keep an eye on it for signs of infection or deterioration. Do you have an iodine test kit? If you do you can test for it. I would also do water changes often until it gets stronger.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

Thanks Frankie! Sorry, I am stupid, but can you explain why I need to test for iodine? I do have a test kit.

I did a 50% WC the day it happened (Tuesday) and have been doing 10% WCs daily since (my D#*M skimmer ain't working).

My clown has decided to hang out with the RBTA because the GBTA is deflated right now. He is so gentle with it, it's like he knows it's hurt. So cute! I'm sure he will move back as soon as the other one opens up.

Re: Lorraine's Rebuilding of 125 gal Tank

I asked because if it is low you can dose it. It is a key nutrient for inverts and fish.
