I see myself following the link and reading up on it tomorrow.

Hi Lynn,

the chemicals and hardware in the picture to be seen, I use for all my tanks. The quantity shown would be sufficient for my 115gal approximately 400 days (+ - 10), for all of my tanks it is sufficient for approximately 100-120 days. The advantage of the Balling method is that all foodstuffs required for the corals in these three canisters mixed. It is a cost-effective and efficient method of nutrition for corals. The cost of the chemicals are about € 50 - for the canisters, sealed cups and dosing syringes around € 35 -. Everything together is much cheaper than to use finished products, which I do not know 100% accurate what they contain.

If you want a more precise description, I write something about in my Chronical.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Well I just went over and counted fish. A couple of the smaller ones are MIA but I am not too worried yet since it is still "night" in the tank. They may just be sleeping. A couple of the corals took a real beating so I am watching them closely. I think the most suprising thing so far is that the clams look perfectly fine. Hopefully they will stay that way but for whatever reason I thought they would be among the first to go.
Not only would a controller be a good thing but if I even had a heater this could have been prevented or at least minimized. That will teach me to replace broken equipment promptly. Living in Florida and hating the cold the house is always pretty warm so I have been getting away without one for some time. Somehow I see me buying a heater at the LFS today as soon as the washer repair man does his thing. Then when the tax check comes in I see a controller in my future. The only bad thing about that is I guess I will have to buy two. One for the reef and one for the ponies. Guess I should see if Jack is going to have any group deals in the near future as well as deciding which one best fits my needs.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Well the actinics have been on for a while and the MH should come on shortly. I believe everybody is accounted for except the sand sifter. There are a couple I haven't seen this morning but I did see them at dinner last night. Once the MH have been on for about an hour I think they are going to get an unusual afternoon snack. Then I will see who appears and who doesn't. Several of the corals are already looking a bit better so I may have escaped this time with a warning.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Well I think I have escaped with a warning this time.
It's too early to tell about the corals and several are definitely still very mad but all the fish are accounted for and ate a nice mid afternoon snack. They were pleasantly suprised by the unusual feeding.
I'll keep a close eye on everybody and keep a very close eye on the chiller but this may have just been a warning.
Sand sifter is still missing but the serpent star came out to eat and I see quite a few of the snails so event the inverts seem to be ok.
Thanks for all of your good thoughs. It was a scary night.

Now go order yourself a sweet AC Pro for that system

Glad to hear it's looking better.

I agree, an AC is definitely in order.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

LOL
Gotta wait for the tax check to even think about that one. A new heater is on the short list though. I would get one today but the LFS is closed on Mondays. I will probably just order one from a sponsor since that is likely cheaper than at the LFS.
Oh and the repair man just left. The washer is fixed so now I have to do laundry.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Well Frank and the kids were bored this weekend so they started a project we have been talking about since we got the tank.
When we bought the tank and stand the end had a pannel with fish and seaweed carved out and speaker cloth behind it. It was made that way so air could flow throught the stand with a fan and out the end. We have always said we were going to do something similar with the doors. So a couple of trips to Loews and a couple of hours work and this is the partially done project. We still need to cut out something for the bottom center. Alex is working on the stencil already. Then just put the speaker cloth and we are good to go. Hope you enjoy the pics.
