Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Beautiful coral Lynn, good luck with that. I don't have the guts to try one of those. On another note, What kind of UV unit do you run? I'm contemplating adding one in my new build, and was curious to see how you felt about yours.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Um. Well. It is in the garage. I keep meaning to put it back but so far that hasn't happened. I think it was like 28w but I am not at all sure. Since the reef is really stable and is probably done with new fish additions I will probably put the UV on the 90g seahorse tank I am setting up. Since they are such delicate animals it might be of more use there.
Grr Now there is something else to decide.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

LoL! Sorry to cause you trouble! I wonder if UV on the pony tank might be counter productive, killing off any small organism that they might use for food. but if they're well fed, I suppose it would be more helpful.

I will definitely have some soon though since I will be taking pics of the arrival of the new tank and once the cam is out I go on a frenzy of pic taking. LOL
Lynn! I just noticed that you have over TEN THOUSAND POSTS!!! WOW!!!

No WONDER you don't have time to take pictures...

Just kidding with you, how is the new elegance doing? I've been reading about them and it sounds like they require a lot of TLC.

LOL
Yes I do type a lot. Can you tell that I love this place?

The elegance is doing pretty good IMO but I have not had it long enough to really tell.
Hopefully some pics soon for everybody. Work is just such work lately. \

I hate it when work gets in the way. But then how else would you support this habit you have developed.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

People all over work to support their addictions. Fortunately mine is not an unhealthy one. Well except when I put my hands in the tank. I still have something in one of my fingers from chosing the LR on Sunday.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Do you have a pair of Aquagloves. They protect your whole arm. Happy to hear the Elegance is doing well.

LOL They only protect my arm when I put them on. Unfortunately for me that is not nearly as often as I should.
I swear my right arm is always covered in SW for one reason or another. There is always something that need adjusting and next thing I know my hand is in the tank. I am good about washing with antibacterial soap but I know that is not good enough.
The elegance looks good to me but apparently that does not necessarily mean anything. I am trying to find some time to take and post pics so everyone can give their opinion.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I know what you mean. I used them for a short while, but they are just such a pain to put on and take off. Just when you take them off, you notice something else needs adjusting. Mine are sitting in the basement for hazardous spill maintenance!

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

If you limit the water to your arm you have done good in my opinion.

Ha! Yeah, I guess you are right Lorraine! It's the water in the mouth that gets to me! Talk about potty mouth! Everytime I siphon water I think of the Reef Keeping Dangers thread!

Know what I use to siphon water? One of those gravel cleaners...siphons my water just fine... I know you have something like that lying around somewhere, right? I stopped the mouth siphoning water thing after I did it the first time and didn't feel so well for the rest of the day and the next. Then again, we arent supposed to drink it...
