Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Just took some pics of the reef. Got some new goodies, but first of all some random shots of some guys who have been here a while.

First my super fat mandarin.

Gorgeous Midas Blenney sitting on top of a powerhead.

My itty bitty red scooter blenney. He is doing great for me and has about doubled in size since we got him.

One of my very first corals. It has turned into a giant.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Now for my fabulous birthday presents.
First up is the most gorgeous frogspawn I have seen. This thing is huge and looks absolutely fabulous.

Look at one of the mouths. This is the first time I have seen such clear mouths on a frogspawn.

An finally everybody can use a nice brain. I got this gorgeous rose brain as well.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

And while we were at the lfs I found the perfect Father's day present for Frank. He has wanted a Hippo tang for forever but we couldn't get one with our large Chevron and Sailfin. Well my lfs bought all of the livestock from somebodys tank who was moving and not taking the livestock. One of the things he got was a large Hippo tang. It is almost exactly the same size as the Chevron and the Sailfin so we should be good there. A few spats when we put him in but he is holding his own. It was sold to me as a yellow belley hippo but I just can't see the yellow belly. Either way it is a gorgeous fat fish and I got a great deal on him.

Frank also got a Coris wrasse but of course he is hiding in the sand. We'll have to get pics of him soon.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Working on it. He is very hard to catch. I am trying to train them to eat from the net. Hopefully that will work. So far he has avoided capture but i am going to move him soon. I think he will be fine in with the clowns. Hmm or maybe in the aquapod since I am not getting seahorses again any time soon.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

EVerybody still doing pretty good. The Chevron and the Sailfin are not happy about the Hippo but he is holding his own. They pretty much leave him alone except when I put nori in. They won't let him get to the clip. I think I am going to have to resort to two clips for a while. They do seem to get along most of the time and they don't hurt him just chase him away from the clip. It is beautiful to watch the 3 tangs move around the tank. It does however remind me I need to start thinking upgrade. As they grow it is obvious that eventually I will need a bigger tank or to get rid of the fish. Since I love the fish I want a bigger tank.

The wrasse only seems to come out in the morning before the lights are on. He may be out late at night as well, but he is not out at 7 when Frank leaves but is out at 8 when I leave. The rest of the time we are at home he is burried in the sand. Hopefully he will become more comfortable and be out more in the future. I did try to take some pics but didn't have a chance to look at them before I left. If there is anything decent I will post it tonight.
Both corals still look great even with the flameback still in the tank. So far he has successfully evaded capture. I really don't want to take the tank apart but he needs to move to another tank that doesn't have lps.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Just stopped by to say hi, glad to see the new additions are doing well. The wrasses will become more comfortable with time (and as he gets bigger too). Just be careful when you vacuum your sand.
