Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Mine is not near as exciting as yours.
I am waiting to get some pics. Hopefully tonight because I want to get a pic for the photo contest as well so I will be playing with the camera. So far only Woodstock knows since she went shopping with me.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Ok Well I finally got some pics though they aren't very good.
The moral to this story is that Lynn can't stand to have an empty tank.
I have had a 20g qt tank set up for almost a year and now we are pretty much done with our fish list. So I had this tank running with LR and a hang on filter just sitting on the pass-through between the kitchen and the living room. I kept saying I wanted to get a pair of clowns for it, but somehow never did.
Never did till Woodstock came to town anyway.
While we were exploring a new LFS I found these two cute little guys. They are absolutely adorable and really inexpensive so I brought them home. So now I have another tank. This one with a pair of clowns and for now a chromis who was getting beat up by the other 2 chromis in the reef, I may move the flameback as well since he was seen picking at coral yesterday. He needs to get out of the reef but may or may not end up in this tank.
The only problem with my little buddies is that I do not know what type of clowns they are. The closest I have been able to come is Clarki, but that just doesn't quite match. The colors are about right, but the stripes and tail are wrong in every pic I could find. They both have a white patch on the top end of their tail. So, if anybody can ID them that would be great.
Here are my new buddies. They are very difficult to photograph since they are so active. The tank will be getting sand and more LR this weekend as well as a protein skimmer at some point soon.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

They do almost look like that. If those have a white spot on their tail it just may be it. The stripes look the same and the color is close. Are those Clarki? That is the closest I have found so far but they don't have the white spot.

Not a bad influence at all. I love the little guys. They are so fun and always on the move. Makes taking pics difficult but watching fun.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

LOL Exactly. I put up a tank and next thing I know there are fish in it. Now when I need a QT I am going to have to get another tank. Actually I just got a 10g to try to treat my seahorse. I guess I can use it to QT smaller fish. Knowing me it will be a sump for the 20g before long.

This pic shows 3 white stripes like yours, some other pictures were really dark so theres probably more than one type? Sounds like youll be needing a bigger house soon

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Mine have 3 full stripes plus the spot. May just be a variation but all 3 that they had in the store had the 3 stripes and the spot. The spot on the tail is part of why I got them. It is just so cute, but they won't stay still enough to get a good pic of it. I took probably 200 pics and those were the only ones worth even saving. Fast little fish.
I'll have to give the camera to Frank. He is much better than I am at stuff like this.

What you think 4 kids, 3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 birds and 3 tanks is too much? Never a dull moment anyway. Always something happening around this zoo.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I believe I have answered my own ID question on the clowns. Did a bit more searching and found the Allard's Clownfish. I looks a lot like my guys except the spot is a stripe on the top of the tail. I bet mine will turn into a stripe as they mature.
Here's the link where I found them.
