Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Thank you. For the first couple of hours the blue spot was in a tunnel made by the engineer goby. The engineer was on one end and the bluespot on the other. I could see the little head pop out with sand and/'or crushed coral and pile it up by the entrance. Then my clown came along and swished her tail over the pile of debris and spread it all over the place. Now the bluespot has disappeared along with several of the other new fish. The lights are out today. It makes sense to beging with but also is one of the rules for the stay alive guarantee. One of the scissortails was not looking good when I released it, but seems to have improved in the last hour or so. Maybe it was just shipping shock. I will keep a close eye on everybody and I think I am going to keep screen over the tank at least until the weekend. That should give everybody time to recover and settle in. Then I will go back to just the eggcrate.
I will try for pics tomorrow after work when the lights are on but I doubt I will have any before then.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Bluespot sighting. I just got out the flashlight and he is still in the same hole. He just pulled back so it is even harder to see him. Hopefully he will start coming out more once he is more comfortable. I don't know why all my fish like that end of the tank. It is kind of funny. Almost everybody has their sleeping spot on one end except the tangs who are in the middle. Nobody has shown any agression that I have seen so I am very happy about that. Hopefully it will stay that way tomorrow when the lights come on.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I hope you are right. I have to admit I am still nervous. Once everybody has a couple of days to settle in I will calm down. I hope I can get some good pics tomorrow.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Day two with my bluespot. Life is good. He moved. Now he is in the front corner of the tank. When he built it, it was behind a rock of ricordia, but we cheated and moved the rock a few inches. Now you can see him poke his little head out and look around. Also I saw him eat for the first time tonight. That made me very happy. Here is today's pic.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I posted in the BSC thread asking if he's eaten, now I see that he has.
That's great! How are the other newbies doing?

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Some have disappeared and some are fine. I didn't see either scissortail yet, but I am sure they are hiding somewhere. The Citron Clown gobies seem to be fine and the chromis joined up with the 2 I already had.

Here is a pic of one of the 2 remaining fish from our purchase a couple of weeks ago. He is really tiny but seems to be doing well. He is almost always out and about munching away on pods.

And here is a pink birdsnest we bought a couple of weeks ago. It is actually more pink than the picture shows.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

You've got some goodies there Lynn. Are you going to move that birds nest closer to the light? Is that a Red Scooter blenny?

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I'm letting the birdsnest get used to my lights first, but yes I plan to move it up. In fact I have a nice place all picked out and waiting. I am already getting good polyp extension so I hope it will do good for me.
Yes it is a little bitty red scooter blenney. He is only about an inch from nose to tail. I was really worried about adding him because he is so small but so far nobody has messed with him at all.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I missed the pictionary game as well. I got stuck in traffic and then Frank was feeding the fish when I got home and I ended up taking pics.
Sorry.
We will have to do it another time I guess.

Steve I can just barely pry myself away. LOL I'm going to be out of town all day Saturday too. That really stinks. But Sunday I will be planted in front of the tank for a considerable amount of time watching my new and old fishies.
