| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. Ok. We had a picture session yesterday and got some good pics. Some new stuff some old. Just good pics of various things. This first two may get me in trouble but they are not actually crabs. They are called porcealin crabs, but every web site I look as says they are not true crabs. Hopefully this means I am safe. LOL They have the neates little pom pom type things on their front legs for filter feeding. I put my hand in with them and barely felt the pinch. They would rather run away as well. Enough babble. I promised pics and pics I have.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. One of my precious yellow clown gobies. This one is in the reef and the other is in the pony tank. I was really worried about putting this guy in the reef with the bigger fish. I got really worried when he immediately disappeared for 2 weeks. Then he came out and he stays out most of the time. I guess he just needed to adjust. Nobody messes with him at all. He just hangs out.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. And the last one is kind of a plea for assistance. My blackcapped bassetlet has been acting vary strange for the last 4 days. He is in a corner of the tank straight up and down. He moves to get food and then goes back to his corner. Once in a while he kind of lays on top of a power head as well for a few minutes. Then back to his corner. There is no visible damage. He is not gasping for air. He is not moving very much at all just kind of floating there a couple of inches below the water surface. All the other fish are acting normally though my orangespot goby just took over the blackcapp's hole. I'm not sure if the blackcapp left the hole first or not. Anyway here is a pic of him in his corner. He really blends in with the corraline, and he has always been a fish that hides most of the time. Could he just know he is camouflaged there? So many questions.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. We just got the dottyback. So far no agression. Oddly enough the clown lets him in his cave. Usually the clown allows nobody in. They seem to have become buddies somehow. Then the dotyback goes back to his hole with the engineer. He seems to be a very sociable fish for now.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. Ok I should now be banned from touching an aquarium for anything other than feeding. I should know better. I really did it this time. First I went looking for the black cap. He wasn't in his corner so I scoured the reef looking for him. Eventually I find him in the overflow. My overflow is quite narrow and catching a fish there is quite difficult. So bright idea #1 take the heater out to have more room. Very very bad idea. Do not do this. I know not to do this. I have no idea what I was thinking other than I was afraid he was going to get sucked up and I wanted to save him. Notice that the heater is heating up. Decide to put it back instead of finding the plug and unpluging it. Bad idea #2 do not do this. Heater explodes of course. So I yank it back out as quick as I can. Pull as much of the cord as I can and then just turn off all of the power strips. I had no idea where the heater was so I just turned everything off. Find the plug and unplug it pull out the heater and the glass in the overflow. That was the 1 thing I did right. I yanked it out immediately so only one piece fell into the overflow. Trust me I checked with my hand and would be cut if there was anything else there. So. I think I am good to go except now I notice that not only is the black cap in the overflow but the clown goby is there as well. So I try and try and try to catch them with no success whatsoever. I finally give up and go turn everything back on except the heater which is now in the other room cooling. Now is when it gets really bad. I did not realize that I have bumped the hose that feeds water from my seahorse tank to my reef. Not only that but where it was it was pumping water directly onto all of my electrical. I am still trying to catch the fish but now everything is on and smoke starts pouring out from several areas. I quickly turn off all the power strips and dry up as much of the water as I can. I have a fan blowing over all the electrical now to dry things some more. Everything is off. The fish are still in the overflow. I am afraid to touch anything. Good thing Frank is coming home in a couple of hours. I am scared I fried everything. The fish all seem to be fine including the ponies. I am so afraid.

| Over Achiever | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. Also is there any way to keep the tank aerated. Maybe running from a different plug (across the room). When my heater blew, my gut is that oxygen was rapidly used up and the fish were asphixiated. Keep a close eye on that. You'll get through this-believe me! We're here for ya! |

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. I am fine. I am scared to death about the tank inhabitants and equipment. I just talked to my husband who can't understand why the fuse didn't blow. I have no idea either. All of the power strips are off and he told me about 2 other things that I need to unplug since they are powered from the other side of the room. All of the inhabitants look fine except a couple of corals that look less then happy. Hopefully they will be ok if/when everything is back on. I am not touching anything at this point. I am too afraid. I keep checking for more smoke just in case and there is none so far so I think I am good on that anyway. Oh my. He is going to kill me. Actually he was very calm and understanding which is kind of worse. I am such an idiot. I know these things. It all just happened so fast I wasn't thinking things through just reacting.

| Sunshine Reefer ![]() | Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure. Well he should be home within the hour. If we can't get things running then I do have a small airpump somewhere I could add. I might even have 2. I also have a small powerhead on the 20 that was not affected. I only have one shrimp in there now, I could move it to the reef and use it there. Actually I have a 2nd return pump sitting around unused. So I should be able to get circulation back regardless. Don't know about lights etc though. I have no backup for those. I do have a backup skimmer. Well the more I think about it I actually do have spares for several important things.
