Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Thanks for the complement Blue.
No sharks or turtles for me. Tank isn't big enough. I can go see them in the ocean if I want. Now a bluespot is a possibility. I have no idea if the lfs has one this week or not. I will certainly look. I want one bad, but have been holding off until I find a way to cover the open spaces on top of the tank. I have eggcrate, but there is an opening on the end bu the return etc that I want to cover up. I may even cover the eggcrate with something like you are planning.
Meanwhile maybe I'll take some pics tonigt if anybody is being particularly cute.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I'm going to try to install my netting without eggcrate. Not sure how, but going to try and rig something together. It will be interesting to see what I get. I got two different kinds to try. I think one of them will be less rigid than the other and might work well around the stuff hanging off the back. The other one I might try to find some clips to hold it in place. Another project, can't wait!

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I hope you have fun shopping today. Make sure and keep us posted on the finds! I found some of the metallic looking egg crate yesterday and went ahead and got it. That stuff is pure gold though ($50 for 2 sheets). The holes are a bit smaller than the white egg crate, so that is good. I've noticed a difference in my lighting (not as light), so we will see. Not sure if I can use this and the netting and still have any light left. I'm tempted to go fishing today too, but I really do need to slow down (bad back and all). I'll probably go through withdrawals if I don't go sometime this weekend though.

Anyway sending karma so you can find a Bluespot.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

The Chevron and the Sailfin get along great. It probably helps that I got them at the same time and at about the same size. Also the fact that they have different body styles helps.
I am just about to go to the lfs, but already called and there is no bluespot for me today. That is what I really want.
My husband bought two new fish yesterday without me. A pearly jawfish for the pony tank and a neon dotyback for the reef. Both are doing fine so far. The jawfish has moved a ton of sand overnight. I can't see him right now, but the pile keeps growing so he is obviously ok. My flameback was picking on the dotyback last night, but everybody seems to have settled down overnight.
As to what I am shopping for toady, since I can't get a bluespot it will depend on what is there. Probably a coral or two though unless I break down and get new ponies. They got some in this week but they are all females. I really wanted a pair, but may settle for 2 females. I really have no way to raise the fry, so the pair thing doesn't really matter, I just like the mating dance they do. Hmm last time I could only get males this time it is females. I'll have to see how they look and how good they are eating and then decide.
Pics of the new fish and whatever else I get before the weekend is done. I promise. It may be tomorrow since I have to go to my in-laws today. We have relatives here from Germany visiting so I have to go do the family thing. Best part is that Frank is making ribs tonight so dinner will be great.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Done with the lfs. Got a couple of new things, but just finished acclimating and I have to leave.
Anybody want to guess what I got?
All I will say right now is that I am very excited, but it is not a bluespot. I did talk to the lfs about ordering one for me so hopefully soon.
Pics when I get back from dinner.
