Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Thank you all!
A special thanks to Mr Bojangles who is the reefing buddy who helped plan the new sump and fuge and was brave and tallented enough to drill the holes in the tanks.
And on the bluespot front apparently there are none to be had locally this week. I did get several responses of "we should get one in this week", but I'll wait and see.
Consoled myself with a new maroon scrolling frawgspawn. Pics tomorrow when he comes out of his pout. I think I may officially have a softie/lps tank since I just can't seem to stay away from them.

Definitely! In fact you need a few. One for each tank.
Glad to see you back again.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Well everything seems fine except the pony. He is still hanging on so I still have some hope but not much. He just lays there on his side unless I put my hand in the tank. Then he wraps his tail around my finger so I can massage his belly. Believe it or not it does appear to give him some relief but not enough for him to start eating again. Hopefully tonight we will be able to get rid of the bubble and he will recover but I am not counting on it. If he is still hanging on I may try to actually remove it with a syringe as suggested on seahorse.org. I have been too afraid up till now, but if he doesn't eat soon he doesn't have a chance anyway so I am ready for drastic measures.
Meanwhile everything in the reef is flourishing except my new scrolling frogspawn. It is still looking a bit unhappy so I will probably move it to another location tonight. He expands but only about 1/2 way. I think I may have him in a spot that has too little flow for him so we'll try another spot and see if he likes it any better.
Hmm sounds like I will be into the SW again tonight. LOL Somehow I am always messing with something in or on the tank.
New fuge is growing lots of stuff, new skimmer is skimming away, and the new chiller is off since it actually got cold here. My tank heater actually came on for the first time I can remember other than when I have tested it to make sure it works. I'm sure by the time the lights are on for a few hours the heater will be back off.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Thinking good thoughts for your seahorse. Good luck with the syringe procedure, I assume you'll attempt to draw the air out before going to Arizona?

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

I'm already back from Arizona. LOL That was last week. I am just terrified of hurting him more so kept putting it off. Now I don't think he is going to recover no matter how much I massage his belly since he just won't eat. He seem horribly uncomfortable until I do my little rub and that perks him up quite a bit for about an hour or so. I think I am on the right track. I had read about being able to massage the bubble out kind of like making a baby burb but am ready to go to more drastic measures at this point. I just feel so bad for the little guy and he has been with us for almost a year now. I hate to see him suffer like this.

Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

That's what FL is in the Winter. It gets cold at night and warms up during the day. Plus the Halides put out quite a bit of heat as well. The chiller I bought has a place where you can plug the heater right in and it will use either as necesssary to get you within a 2degree tollerance. That was part of the reason I got the unit I did. Haven't hooked the heater up to it yet, so they are still intependent each with their own temp controller. I like the heater being able to use the controller of the chiller though so that will happen sometime soon.
Meanwhile on my way home to see if I drastic measures can help out my pony.
I'll let you guys know, but really only have the smallest of hopes in my mind. I have to at least try however. He has been such a cool buddy to me.
