Re: New 225g Starphire Tank

I might change it to room divider/in wall this way the three Starphire Glass side can be viewed, and all the equipment can still go behind the wall in the laundry area. I will post pics today and any suggestions would be appreciated.

It is made out of 1/2" Starphire Glass, except for the bottom pane and the pane with the overflow. The Eurobracing is even made out of Starphire Glass. As the picture shows, the Starphire panes are the two 72" sides and one 36" side. The overflow is on one of the 36" sides.

The Overflow itself is black tinted glass. Not plastic black tinting, but actual black glass that is still translucent. The Outside overflow pane has a black painted back.

There are two 2" Dursos and one 1.5" return all concealed in the 7"x32" overflow. The overflow has black eggcrate attached to the rim to prevent fish from swimming over.

There are two 1" holes drilled in the eurobracing on the side opposite the overflow. I had these drilled so that I could attach my Tunzes to the eurobracing closer to the side panes of glass.

The 4 vertical edges have black silicone as well as ground and polished edges. The rest of the seals have clear silicone. and ground edges.

The tank weighs approximately 600 lbs empty.

Re: New 225g Starphire Tank

Pics below are of the wall that I would like to put the tank on...behind is my laundry room where the equipment will go.

Blue tape outlines the tank size.

The back of the room will be computer/scrapebooking area...in front of the tank will be the TV sitting area.

There will be 6ft between the tank and far wall.

Re: New 225g Starphire Tank

Very nice, love the dimensions makes for great aquascaping !
Since the tank is 20" tall why did you go with the 250's ? Is this going to be excluse SPS tank ? How much rock are you planning to add ? Will it have a DSB ? Do you have a fish list ?

Can't wait to see it develop

Re: New 225g Starphire Tank

Wow! Can't wait to see the progress on this one. Looks great so far. I have my tank as a room divider and love it. Gives you lots of opportunity for viewing from many areas. Mine kind of makes a hallway by my front door and then I have a couch on the other side for relaxed viewing. Of course I had to add some bar stools on the side by the door so people can sit and watch that side of the tank, lol.
Best of luck. Looks like it is gonna be great.

Re: New 225g Starphire Tank

Looks like it's gonna be an awesome set up!
I love in wall tanks and someday plan on having one but, I also like the way your planning on setting yours up.
Will make it appear as those you have two rooms instead of one long room!

Are you custom making your own stand?

Re: New 225g Starphire Tank

I have an existing 135g with 3x250MH ...I will be tearing that one down. I would like to use these lights so not to buy new ones.

I have about 500lbs LR to put in, I can't wait to aquascape. I will take my time with this...and probably change my mind over and over again.

The 20" helps with short arms...I hate when something falls and I can't reach the bottom to get it.

I enjoy Sandbeds, not tooooo deep with only 20" but enough to look good.

I might try alittle of both... SPS and a few of my exsiting LPS torch, hammer fox coral. I will find them a nice spot without direct MH.

Custom Stand...thank goodness for brothers as carpenters, he made the hood for my 135g.
