| Tunicate | My 90 gallon reef I have just hit the 9 month mark. I of had to go through the typical 2 months of damsels, live sand, and live rock. Then had to wait for the cured live rock, to actually finish its curing and nitrate leaching stages, "another 2 months". Then I went through a few equipment modifications, and additions. At that point, I was then able to start slowly stocking the tank. I have been doing reef/fish tanks for many years. I had never done a reef tank to the scope in which I am attempting at this point. I have been very patient and diligent maintaining and trying to improve wherever I can. I pay attention to any slight changes, being sure to research any unknowns. Everytime I have questions for the people on this site, I have always gotten many helpful ideas and suggestions. 90 gallon glass tank 48" x 24" x 18" Home made oak stand 40" tall Home made top/ light reflector PM "precision marine" 40 gallon sump. | The Wand Geek was here. ;) ![]() | Re: My 90 gallon reef Very nice equipment list you have! Sounds like you have certainly invested wisely. Your fish bioload seems very, very high. I'm curious to know what your nitrAtes testing at? How much of a water change do you perform weekly? Beautiful Suncoral!! ![]()

| Tunicate | Re: My 90 gallon reef I know, I do love fish. Most all of them are definately on the smaller side. But to answer your question, my nitrates are at absolute zero. I do weekly water changes, about 15 gallons per week. But the greatest factor has been the Euroreef skimmer model RC-135, it is an absolute jewel of an item. I have never seen a skimmer so efficient in all my life. I also like to keep a high nutrient load for the corals, so I have found with small weekly water changes and an insane protien skimmer, the nitrates are zero. And thank you for the compliment. It does seem to be all coming together. The1poolman |
