Re: Woody's Corral

Doni,
What did you decide to go with for filtration?
I've been checking into several different methods. Not sure which direction I want to go yet.
I've also read that you want very few if none (micro bubbles) as they can be dangerous for the horse.

Re: Woody's Corral

Live rock, dsb, and an Aquaclear 500 packed with phosban and carbon.... in addition to large weekly water changes. I'll watch the water params closely.. if needed, I'll add a sump with skimmer. I hope that won't be necessary especially if I incorporate a waste free feeding trough (which I will be making today).

LOL Witty~ Okay...

Re: Woody's Corral

Looks great Woody! What do I know but adding a skimmer may be enough...I do not use a sump on my 30...If you do add one...Keep me posted on this thread....Might be something I need to do!

Cheers!

Ohhhh....Fake plants. Those things are meant for fresh water tanks, I hate fake. Unless of course....well you know.

Re: Woody's Corral

If I can't keep this cube simple, I will tear it down. I am hoping for success with the way it is.. I'll keep you posted.

Nothing 'fake' in it...

Re: Woody's Corral

They're doing great Gina They are very active and eating well. I bought some ittsy bitsy guppie fry for them on Sunday but they were NOT interested in them.... seems like they liked to watch them swim but wouldn't dare eat one! LOL~

I have made a feeding station out of a 'worm feeder' and magfloat but it needs some modifications... the water flow just blows out the mysis and it is an eyesore (atleast to me). I know I could turn off the water flow but I am ultimately trying to create a feeding station where that is not needed. Meanwhile, I have created a nice whirlpool effect using the rocks and substrate that funnels all the mysis into one area; there they just swirl around until eaten.... maybe I should just use that instead?

Re: Woody's Corral

Do you have an area in your tank where the flow is less?

Here is some pics I found of other feeding stations some are using.
Seems most people do turn off their ph when feeding unless they can find an area in the tank where there isn't much flow.

Try a few other areas in your tank and see what happens.
Post some more pics of your babies when you get a chance!
