Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

Wats the height of your tank?? My lights are about 14 inches from the water surface and the tank is 27inches deep, my rics close to the sandbed have bleached and so did a few of my SPS corals that are placed higher, hence I had to have them moved downwards.... My scolymias have also bleached... I'm using DE bulbs

If I get my understanding right, mogul based lights have slightly lesser intensity as the light is slightly more diffused?

What's ur photoperiod like? I'm running 8 hours with 3x250W 14KK with another 2x250W 10KK for 2 hours currently...

Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

I would slowly reduce the photo period to between 7 and 8 hours max over the next month or so.

Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

Its kinda hard to explain but I have 6 total bulbs and 3 come on at 11:00 am and go off at 4:00 pm,,, the other set of 3 come on at 12:00(noon ) and go off at 5:00 pm... So the actual time of all 6 on at once is 12:00(noon) till 4 pm. So I would agree with Craig to reduce the photo period...

Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

Have already reduced the photoperiod, used to be 8 hours 3x250W + 4 hours 2x250W..... now it's 8 hours 3x250W + 2 hours 2x250W.... reduction of 2 hours actually, but am still observing the corals....

At the same time, have shifted the corals and rics that have bleached to areas with lesser lights, and they are recovering... will be reverting the photo-period once my algae bloom is over...

Nice corals!!

Hummm... my dark red brain has faded a lot since I got it. Eventhough it is on the bottom, I wonder if it too is bleaching due to my MH.......

Beautiful corals!! Thanks for sharing

Thanks... I'll shade it a bit.

The TM-PR hasn't been delivered yet .... seems they updated the tracking "estimated date of arrival" to Tuesday. But for $9.98 shipping.. I won't complain!

Thanks for the kind words buddy!!

Report back on the condition of your brain coral after shading!!!!!

You'll love the TM-PR... but note the Mg deficiency that I've mentioned in your thread... you may wanna have it tested...

Cheers!

A recent tank pic... over-exposed, but thats the best I can do...
