Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

Gosh... just peeped into the tank this morning while the lights are off and I saw no less than 5 crabs...

One day when I hate those crabs enough, I'd reset the tank and soak the rocks in fresh water for months!!

Bummer

Try a crab trap... cut the top off of a 2 liter soda bottle (just large enough for the crabs to enter), then bait it with some shrimp, maybe put some rocks in it so it doesn't move around; then prop it up against a rock at an steep angle. The idea is the crabs go in but can't climb up/out.

Sorry to hear about your Anthias. Schools of these guys are truely a beautiful site.
The colors in your tank are spectacular! I am soooo jealous

Thanxs buddy!!

Here's a little article about a crab trap which I find pretty effective...

Managed to catch quite a couple but there are more!!! Retribution to using cheaper liverocks from Indonesia...

I stopped the crab-trapping for the time being as I'm waiting for the nutrient level in my tank to lower down and the algae problem to ease off...

You can give someone a bump of positive Karma for good advice, kind words, good reefkeeping practices, or if someone is having a bad day. It's all good, eh?

Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

That's pretty cool!! Haven't seen something like that in other forums... or maybe I just didn't notice... result of squinting too much at my tank trying to spot another darn crab!

Thanks for enlightening mate!!

Re: Vanquish's 250g Reef Tank...

blues_eyes, seen your signature... do you find that much lightings a bit of overkill?? I'm running 1250W MH and I find my corals bleaching...
