Re: Seachem Reef Salt Stats - A bit of help please?

I had the same problem Lorraine and what I did was add alkalinity to compensate and used up the rest of the salt. No matter which salt you choose it will be lacking in something.

Re: Seachem Reef Salt Stats - A bit of help please?

Thanks Cheeks. I have adjusted the mag, and did a small water change in the 29 and 50 g tanks. Seems to be fine. Tomorrow I will do a WC on the display tank with the rest (about a 10% WC).

Very, very low magnesium. If you have a bad batch of Reef Crystals, you can send them a sample and they will replace it. I will try and find the link if you need it. I already mixed mine with RSPro and so had to use it up (along with a gallon - yes a gallon - of magnesium supplement). The bad batch tests in the 1100 ppm range.

Re: Seachem Reef Salt Stats - A bit of help please?

Mine oceanic measures okay. I just started to add a little mg in the water change. Water change before mg measures
1.026
cal 500
kh 10
mag 1260

I add enough mg to raise it to 1290-1300. It's been helping keep the alk up. Tank ends up measuring
1.026
cal 440
kh 8
mg 1290

Interesting results on the Oceanic. I never got near your results for the alkalinity and my pH would drop to 7.6 with it.

The alk hasn't been dropping as bad after adding the mg. This is a new thing adding the mag but so far so good.
