I've made all types of pickles when I lived on the farm, dill, baby dill, icicle, bread & butter, sweet, crispy, pickled peppers, pickled eggs, pickled onions, relish, and cabbage. I have never once in all the years that we made them seen a recipe that called for pickling lime. Actually I was really surprised when I first heard the suggestion that people actually put lime in their food!
