Re: different alge

It's just your normal "film" algae. It grows on all of our glass and you scrape/wipe it off every other day or so. The higher your nutrients in the water the faster it grows. I've noticed Natural Sunlight in a room (not even directly striking the tank) will greatly increase this algae. It's powdery when you wipe it from the glass.

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!
Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Reducing nutrients will help but as long as the tank has water in it you'll have that algae on the glass.

I think BigAl was just trying to say that film algae isn't something that you'll ever get rid of completely.

Re: different alge

I agree - it's unavoidable. Just one of those things that happens & scraping is the only way to keep the glass clear of it.
