Micro bubbles revisited

Hi , I just set up my 130d with the media rack and tunze 9002 although I havent turned on the skimmer yet I have noticed that i'm getting periodic
micro bubbles- My thoughts on this has to do with their design -having the pumps near the surface causes the micro bubbles, the very loose fitting of the intack cover with tube can suck in air- If you turn off 1 of the pumps the water level rises to about the top of the viewing window no bubbles, with 2 on it pulls the level down to just above the bottom of the pump. still to near the surface and can cause air intake. I adjusted the water level in DT to where its sitting in the hinge tray and its a little to high for my liking.
I'm going to watch this for a while and if it continues my solution is to replace the pumps with maxi jet utility pump that sits on the bottom and using 2 small ones and plumbing it up with an elbow or using 1 294 gph and using a "y" connector and elbows out the holes.
anybody tried this method I'm curious to see if it worked for them.

Re: Micro bubbles revisited

I believe most people are attaching 5/8 ID hosing to the bottom of the intakes and zip-tying the plastic inlet to the pump. I've done this myself and I don't have any microbubbles.

Rick - in the main tank, I have my water up to just - almost touching, the tray that hold the lid hinges... the ones with drain holes in them.

Re: Micro bubbles revisited

I don't see any numbers..., but I try to keep it at the top line on the water level window... evaporation will drop it down one, before I manually top-off

my circulation pumps are about 3/4 under water... maybe a tad less...

never mind answering any question, glad to try to help
