Which filters in RSM 130d?

I have a newish 130d that I am slowly getting the hang of and have just put in a media rack and Tunze skimmer, question is what filters do I need, I think I may have too much in mine as I have the following:

JBL Silicate and Phosphate in socks (I had a brown algae problem and would like to remove these)
Stock mechanical
Stock ceramic tubes (have 10kgs of live rock so not sure if needed)
Stock carbon

I also put in a piece of matting after cleaning for a bit to pick up and rubbish

Reason I ask is my water level in the back is a little low.

Re: Which filters in RSM 130d?

I removed all the stock items. In the Media Rack i have carbon on the bottom, phosphate remover middle and just white floss on the top shelf.

I replace the white floss every 2 days and rinse the media bags every week.

Doing this keeps the water level right without blocking any flow. Water level dips when any of the above become clogged. Minor water level adjustments to to maintain it along the 9002 skimmer line i do via the surface skimmer in the tank.

I would suggest removing the stock items from under the pumps as this will restrict flow and the ceramic is a nitrate trap.

With my media placements i get Crystal clear water and no flow issues and al readings are spot on.

Hope this helps.

Re: Which filters in RSM 130d?

I only use Chemi-pure elite on the bottom of the rack, Purigen in the middle and filter pad on the top, Thats it.

Does the Chemi-Pure remove the need for the carbon completely?

I removed the bio media and that has helped.

Re: Which filters in RSM 130d?

This stuff seems to be hugely popular across the pond, so why can't we buy it in the UK?
