Stock moonlights

After a great offline convo with Glenn (nanoreffing4fun) I thought I would put this out there as a new thread. Originally we were talking about lighting and the timer. I was asking (hoping) that there might be a way to control the moonlights. Basically have moonlights come on for an hour in the AM, then T5s during day, then T5s off and moonlights stay on for an hour or so, and then all lights off.

Currently I have T5s during the day and moonlights on during the night.

That's long way to go for my question but here goes.

Do folks leave their moonlights on all night or do you shut everything off and have the tank totally dark until the morning?

I know the moonlights simulate a natural moon at night so it would make sense that you can/should leave them on at night, but I still wonder if total darkness at night might be better.

Thoughts?

Re: Stock moonlights

I run my blue ones all night, although I've thought about adjusting my non-RSM lighting to have darkness a few hours a night. Since there have been no negatives to moonlights on all night for over 2 years, I just leave well enough alone.

Re: Stock moonlights

I have a different tank atm, and with that one I had to put the nightlights on a different power supply, so I put the nightlights 1 hour before the normal lights come on but at night I have the nightlights on from 10pm until 12pm.
