Blurp's RSM250

So here it goes..

Got the RSM on May-June, and moved my ancient nano's fish and corals to it right by mid-July, after checking all the parameters and with the help of bacteriae ;D
Thus the 1st inhabitants were (and sorry for the scientific names, I know no other)
Fish: 2 percula, 1 valenciennea puellaris, 1 bicolor blenny (this one I learned already)
Molluscs: 10 nassarius
Invertebrates: 1 stychodactyla anemone, 1 lysmata amboinensis, 1 blue zoanthus colony, 1 favites, 1 orange funghia, 1 green turbinaria reniformis and 1 green briareum colony also a bunch of aiptasia
+ 7 kg of 1st quality Malaysia life stone and some 3 kg of Sri-Lanka white round coralline sand

Before I transferred my old nano stock, I added:
20 kg of Filipines life stone, 10 kg of thick aragonite sand and filled the tank with RS Coral Pro salt water.
With the stone, there came:
1 red eyed crab (never got to know what's the name, neither if its reef safe)
1 little porcelain (??) crab
small colonies of star pollips
several species of macroalgae
Also, took three cups of my old substrate and half the filtering media to the RSM, so that bacteria were settled before starting

3 weeks after the tranfer I added:
2 strombus
1 blue tang (that was easy )
1 zebrasoma veliferum (fin tailed??)
1 green stylophora (with mithrax crab)
2 seriatophora sticks + 1 orange montipora digitata a friend passed me.

I use RO water and mix it with RS Coral Pro at home.
Change 10% every two weeks and 20% every month and a half
Add de-nitrifying bacteriae (Bioptim & Biopur, sorry if brands are not allowed I pray Admins to delete this) every 10 days.
You may notice I never clean the back, fish love bitting the algae, and it is starting to get with beautier pink calcaria algae
And here are some pics:

Aquascaping 1.0

Aquascaping 2.0

and the whole album (including some other pictures from my seahorses nano and some old equipment I was selling, though finally kept the Hailea nano as hospital tank )

Re: Blurp's RSM250

Blurp - great to see you began a thread on your tank, and a beautiful one it is! It looks like you may have a few Aiptasia in there? Have you thought about getting one or two peppermint shrimp to eat them?

Yes, indeed, but could not find any lysmata wundermanii nor seticaudata (mediterranean one) yet, just debelius and amboinensis ones, and my amboinensis will not help (even though I asked her several times)
I periodically use Joe's Juice little by little and siphoon them later, but that is not enough...Would get a Chelmon Rostratus (butterfly??) if RSM were 500litres and I had no SPS

No doubt I'll get at least a couple as soon as I find them, hope after holidays..
Just was wondering if they will be able to deal with the bigger ones. Any piece of advice will be welcomed if you know other means.

Re: Blurp's RSM250

Blurp - check out some comments on the peppermint shrimp near the bottom of this page:

JBJ 6 gallons of paradise!

If you get any be sure they're peppermint and not camel back shrimp - the two look a bit similar.

Re: Blurp's RSM250

Blurp - nice looking tank!

I also had some luck with Aiptasia-X on the couple of aiptasia I had in my tank - haven't seen any pop up since I took care of those couple.

Re: Blurp's RSM250

We use a syringe and needle to inject aiptasia with boiling water - work well if youcan get to the middle.

Hi,

Why do you keep the water level that low?
