Red Sea MAX Cabinet Ventilation Kit

Hello Everyone

This is my first post on Reef Sanctuary, I am normal at a danish forum, but i Like that Red sea max owners, got there own club here. and I must say there are many beatiful tanks here, and a lot of knowlegde, so i hope you can help me with my questions.

I Have just bought a chiller, because of the heat issue, I want to place it in the cabinet, so some ventilation in the cabinet is required.

Therefor I would like to know if somebody knows Red Sea MAX Cabinet Ventilation Kit. If so, can you then tell me an answer to the following questions.

What size of fan is inside?
What are the decibels?
What are the rpm?
what are the flowrate?
And is it posible to replace the fan with a new one in the same size?

I have these question, because i have thought of making a fan to the cabinet by my self, but maby it is easier to replace the fan with a new one, which have lower decibel and a bigger flow, if it can be better than it already is?

If anyone knows the flow rate on the ventilation fans in the hood then please share, I want to change them, to some with lower decibel. I know that the fans in the hood have 30 decibel which is a bit, but then again maby its because of a big flowrate, but i doubt.

Regards
Christian

Re: Red Sea MAX Cabinet Ventilation Kit

I installed one, with the chiller in the cabinet. I can't hear it and don't know about all of your stats, but inside the cabinet is always plenty cool.

don't get me wrong, if you get down next to it, you'll hear it, but for the most part it's a non-issue for me

Re: Red Sea MAX Cabinet Ventilation Kit

Hi

I have got an answer from Red sea (Neil) about the ventilation in the hood, so I want to share the information if any needs it. I am waiting for steve to reply on the ventilation kit.

Fan in the hood
Size: 6X6X2 cm
DBA: 20 db
RPM: 2500
CFM 9,9

So I think i Will change them to theese SilenX Corporation - iXtrema Pro Fans
They got a lower RPM a bigger flow at 10 CFM and only 8 DBA

Re: Red Sea MAX Cabinet Ventilation Kit

I agree with the above post by Neon. It's not loud but if you get down and put your ear by it, you can hear it! I love mine and it pulls lots of hot air out of the cabinet.

CFM: 9,9

So i think that I will change them to these
