| Bryozoan | Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page I removed the sponge and now I can drop it to 5 inches. But not anymore. Looks like I need to give it some more time to break in? There's lots of bubbles in the tank now, but hopefully that will subside as well as it goes along? Manoj |

| Tunicate | Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page Reefmack-I'm still getting microbubbles but not as bad. Also there's a bubble pop every few seconds that comes from the bottom of the sponge. Is this normal? One more thing, should the airlines be hanging over the back or push down all the way down? |

| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page Manoj - the bubbles took at least a week to subside with mine. Is there anywhere in the back of the 250 where you prop a piece(s) of coarse black sponge before the bubbles get to the pump chamber(s). I think the 250 has pumps in 2 different locations so this may not even be possible. In the 130 I propped an inch thick piece of the original 130 black sponge against the lip of the heater chamber and it acted as a bubble trap to get rid of most of the bubbles before the pumps blew them out into the tank. Reefman36 - I only had the sponge in for a very short time, but I have heard some other Euro-Reef owners mention the "bubble pop" escaping from the sponge periodically. I can't remember what the advice on that was. I have the extra airline and my airline silencers hanging over the back. If you can check & be sure both airlines are in the pump connector - I had to super glue/hot glue mine in to keep them from popping out. If your bubbles are decreasing it sounds like it's getting closer to being fully broken in. You could try the black sponge trick I mentioned to Manjo - that really helped with my bubbles till the skimmer broke in. With the black sponge against the heater pane (if you have a 130) you might be able to remove the Euro-Reef sponge and be able to drop the skimmer down, or maybe get a drier skimmate. Anyway - just sharing my experience. Maybe some others will post some other ideas. I don't consider myself the Euro-Reef expert LOL!

| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page Reefman86 - maybe Todd will be able to offer more help than I can. I would think getting wet skimmate into the cup is better than having done in the cup, as long as it's not filling up too quickly. Do you have a new tank with little bio-load (few or no fish and little or no feeding)? I'm only guessing that the skimmer still hasn't broken in all the way, or that there aren't enough organics in the water to form a stable, dryer foam.

| RS Sponsor | Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page Hi guys, Thanks for all the help everyone! Useing the old hard drive now as a slave. Computer is back up and working well .I actually went back with McAfee. I have to give it one more chance in all fairness! It was good for a long time! I got out cheap at 75.00 I feel! Manoj, Yes, Robbert and I had spoken about your skimmer. Happy to hear it's up and running. Give it time to break in. At least 14 days for all bubbles to disappear. You will begin to lower it through the break in period. Give it time. It's a real beast, and will clean up your water superbly! I need to take a look at your video.

| Bryozoan | Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page Hey Todd, thanks. Yeah...it's been working great. Still sitting about 5 inches above the plate (with the foam in. I want to keep the foam in for now at least since I am running the tank without any other foam). But I think slowly the skimmer is settling in and getting more stable. It's still not been a week. |
