Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Just got my reworked ER 250 Plate from Todd. It's good to go now and the size bugs are worked out. This one fit perfectly. I saw the new plate Robert is working on above. This only gets better and better! Thanks Todd & Robert

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Hey everyone,
Just so you all know, I got my first virus on my computer in about 6 years. And man, was it a dewzy!!!!! We tried for three hours to fix it. It would not let us download Spybot or anything else for that matter!
Took the computer to best buy, and they said they could fix it for 199.00. But............If we wanted it back within 24 hours it would be a extra 150.00 more.....LOL.
So, we purchased a larger hard drive for 69.99(western Digital) and took the infected one out and installed the new one. Then, broke out the back up disks, 8 of them to be exact and proceeded to reinstall!
FUN FUN FUN!!!! I somehow got the feeling BestBuy was trying to take advantage of me............LOL.
At any rate, I wanted to show you guys the new mounting plate for the Euroreef 250 skimmer.
This will be the plate that will hold two reactors. The reactors will be as easy and loosening a screw and sliding it out up through the top.
IT will take all of about 20 seconds to remove the reactor for cleaning/servicing.
This will be the cats meow, as ease of use is paramount!!! Check out these pics! Also, we want one for the MAx 130D as well.
The max 130D plate will not need a seperate pump to run it. If you run a chiller, you can power the reactor with the return water we hope.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

The new setup with the reactors sounds great. Bummer on that computer virus though! I've suffered some hard drive crashes and I'm terrible at backing up my files. Great to see you find time to post again!

Thanks Terry,
You know, I have McAfee virus scan and have had great luck with it for years. Somehow, this virus got in past it!!! Still not sure how I ended up with it on the business computer!
At any rate, I know we need to update computers here very soon. A few more pics!

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Hi Todd, glad to see you back posting again. Dunno if Robbert told you, but I met him on sunday and picked up the skimmer It's been breaking in so far and pulling in some wet skimmate. At this point it looks like the foam level is dropping and getting drier and I should be able to drop it from the 6 inches at which it is sitting right now. I had posted one of the new plate pics you just posted a few days back. Really waiting for it. My current plate has a bad thumbscrew (can't turn it at all. It's stuck) So hoping to swap it out for the new one...

Sorry hear Todd... Glad to hear it's fixed. You should consider a Mac. Very slim chance of getting a virus

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

What's up everybody! I got my er skimmer last week, still have some microbubbles in my tank(rsm). I am getting skimmate but can't get it to overflow in the cup.I have the skimmer 4inches above the plate and even then I get wet skimmate. Should I wait to adjust it?

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Manojkoushik: I had the same problem with my thumbscrews.. I soaked the plate in hot water a few minutes to loosen it, then applied a Silicone lubricant which has worked well.

Todd: Sorry about your virus. I threw out a perfectly good 1 year old Dell because it was almost cheaper to buy a whole new system. Got one from Vision computers, the tech support there is unbelievable, they all speak English!

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Hey guys, a query. I set up my ER skimmer on the 250 with the large mesh wheels and the foam block on Monday afternoon and right now it's still sitting at 6 inches above the plate. Any lower and it will overflow. Is this normal? At this height, it regular blows semi dry foam up. I am wondering how/when i know it's broken in.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Reefman36 - how's it doing now? after a week I would think it should start to settle down.

Manoj - I had to take the sponge out of my 130 model at the beginning (large mesh wheels), to keep the cup from filling up quickly with water. It meant more bubbles, but I got rid of most of those with a piece of black sponge placed next to the heater pane (not sure where that could be placed in a 250). I never have put the sponge back in. The sponge makes the foam level higher in the skimmer, and removing it should help the cup from filling too quickly with watery skimmate.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

I can try removing the sponge and see if that helps any. Here's a video of it currently:

any other ideas?
