Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

flynfish - Quick easy way to check those lines. Just place a finger over the hole on the muffler and you should see an immediate drop of the bubbles in the skimmer tube (not the cup). I check them both (one at a time) daily as I also do on my other tanks. Hot water in the air lines does a great cleaning job as redseareef mentioned earlier.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Reefmac, and Reef Ghost..... The problem wasn't actually in the air line but in the silencer. Never actually did do the "water trick", but may have to as it is once again spewing almost all the bubbles out the bottom and into the tank. Rather it was, it's turned off ATM.
I just can't figure out why I am having so much trouble. Makes no sense. This morning it was running fine again except for some not quite tolerable amount of bubbles. I did nothing at all to the tank, not even feed today, and at 3PM it was spewing out all the bubbles once again?

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

This is a 1 Month update on my ER RSM 250 Skimmer. The skimmers broken in, no bubbles from bottom of the tube. Bubble column base is appx 1.5 inches from base of the tube. Never used the foam, I’ve had the big wheels in both pumps from day 1. Right now, my happy spot is 2.5 inches off the plate for the top of the tube. I may play with it later but for now I like it where it is. Picture attached here is what I have waiting for me each day when I get home from work. This is DRY thick Skim that’s strong enough to push my cup cover up as you can see. I clean the cup daily and the tube on Saturday before water changes.

Todd, Richard…. Love it, Outstanding Skimmer, Thanks!

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

flynfish,
It will take days or possibly even weeks for it to settle down and stabiliz after adding that cyclopsyze.
That stuff is loaded with fat. It makes skimmers go nuts! I would say do a larger water change and FEED SPARINGLY. Use a different food if you can too.
It's nothing you are doing! It's the food and the amount you where adding. That's all.
I will help you out all I can until you are getting a stable running skimmer. Any food with gelaten in it will make a any skimmer act erratic.
I would change out your carbon and do a water change. Then, the skimmer should really settle down

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Todd... not seen the new plate yet.

Thanks for the positive words. NEVER got anything like this or even in the same neighborhood as this with the RSM skimmer. But I am going to start using it's pump to mix salt as others talked about on here. I'll post on here when the plate arrives.

This is weird but my skimmer is producing blue skimmate. Like a teal color. Im guessing it's not supposed to do this.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Just keep running it. Skimmate is skimmate - it was in the water, now its not. It's all good - my guess is it will change as the water chemistry does

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

I have a new tip for Euro-Reef owners. I had noticed that my skimming had dropped off quite a bit in the last week. Sucking hot water through the airlines made only a slight improvement. Tonight I pulled the skimmer out after dinner, and found the mesh wheels were fairly slimed up after a month of skimming. I cleaned up the mesh wheels under running hot water, and poked at them with a toothbrush till they were clean again, and Wow, what a difference! I had to raise the skimmer back up a bit, and I'm keeping an eye on it to see if I need to raise it more. I guess I'll add a monthly cleaning of the wheels to my maintenance. It was time well spent in getting it working at maximum efficiency again.

Euroreef skimmer UK !!!

Hi, received the skimmer today and got straight on to putting it in the tank, large wheels, left the foam in but thinking of taking it out because i have to set it 4 inches above the plate so it will not overflow. Hopefully settle a bit soon. Anyway here’s a few pictures.
