Okay my Euroreef Skimmer has been running for approx 20hrs (4pm Saturday 13th) now and its still sizzling like pop rocks candy. Tank is filled with micro bubbles along with the whole skimmer chamber. I decided to run this without the foam so the skimmer is sitting as low as it can in the plate, bubbles are as high as the skimmer tube is long, just below the cup but nothing has risen into the cup itself yet. Hopefully these bubbles go away soon because they are frustrating! I would hate to be forced to use the foam in the skimmer so I will let this run its course for a few days to see if the bubbles go away.

The foam is for that very reason. To get you through the break in process with minimal bubbles. How long has the tank been set up?

Mine took over a week before the bubble column rose up in the cyclinder and the fizzing in the back chamber and tank disappeared. Don't give up - it does get better!

This tank has been up for approx 2yrs, and read how using the foam was about 50 / 50 on this thread? I knew there would be bubbles until this breaks in and I could wind up needing it afterwards anyway? But I will let this run a few days and see how / if it improves. Been running approx 24hrs now, nothing in the cup yet. Wondering if I should raise the skimmer? Its currently as low as it can sit on the plate.

If you don't have the foam in you might want to add it. I think it will help push the foam up into the cup, plus possibly let you raise the skimmer up and have some room for adjustments. Or wait another day & decide.

Skimmer is doing good. Lots of skimmate. I've cleaned the cup 2 times already. Bubbles in tank seem to getting a bit better but I don't see how they would ever go away as most of my bubbles are escaping from the grommets on the cylinder. The burping from the skimmer has lessened as well. I am still running the foam.

The skimmer is definitely doing it's job as new life is starting to spring up. Today I found what was about a 3" white worm that was about 1/16" in diameter an was very elastic. I initially grabbed it with my feeding tongs and snipped it in half as it retracted. I later found it stretching from one rock to another and viola... hook line and sinker. I grabbed it with my tongs and disposed of it.
