Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

TonyV - do you have the sponge in? I took mine out at the start, to allow me to drop the skimmer down.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

I move the cup up and then down. I just feed some Oyster feast and now my bubbles in the skimmer are only halfway up the tube so I could drop it I guess.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Taking the sponge out might let you drop the skimmer. That was what happened in my case when I first set it up. I'm not sure if that would increase the escaping air bubbles though - it might make no difference or might get better for all I know. Or, just wait till it's fully broken in, and you'll see that you can then start dropping it.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Redseareef---- The air line on one of the pumps came off twice yesterday, can't figue out why as I hadn't touched the skimmer at all yesterday. Is there anything I can use to glue it on? I've still have microbubbles today, day11, not a lot just enough to be annoying. Tried removing the sponge Thursday, but that made them worse.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

flynfish,
You can clean the line up on the end. Then, clean the hole up and just add a bit of superglue around the end of the airline and put it back in the hole.
That attatches it really well. Let me know that you get the line fixxed ok.
Thanks

Redseareef------ That's what I was thinking about doing, just wasn't sure if superglue is safe to use on the plastic.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

flynfish,
Yes, it's totally safe. I actually yanked one of mine out. I think Terry did the same thing as well.
Maybe we need nipples on the volutes for the airlines. Robbert gave me a reason why they did not use them, I forgot what it was..lol.
I will mention this again and find out!

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

I was lucky - I glued mine in before it went in the tank. As Todd said I put a bit of superglue around the edge of the airline and pushed it in and let it bond. I also got my wife's hot glue gun and put a ring of hot glue around the edge of the glued airline fitting. I'm also careful to keep some slack in the airline below the bracket. Mine hasn't pulled out since.

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

After running all night with the fear of it overflowing, I am happy to say it didn't. Cup is about 1/3 full. Bubbles have decreased in tank slightly.

Tony - how many days has it been now? What's the color of the gunk in the cup?

Re: RedSea Max/ Euroreef Skimmer Page

Todd - the new sump arrived in perfect condition, and looks like a nice one. That was a great double box packaging job! It looks like I'll have the room I need for my sump version Euro-Reef, the sock, plus the reactor. Thanks!
