Re: Reefmack's RSM 130

Almost done! I managed to fix 11 in place. That is the vast majority off the sand and on the rocks. Clams are still open but all corals have closed and giving off their slime. I didn't know about the zoas squirting, but I only have two that I was going to feed to the Eunice anyway. I put on rubber gloves with elastic bands and now my hands are numb, lol. I'm happy despite the mini rock slide. It doesn't look as natural as I hoped but at least they are in place. I'll do my waterchange tomorrow, I'll probably change the carbon too. Phew.... Cheers again Terry....

Re: Reefmack's RSM 130

Good news RaysReef! Glad you got it done. Yep - those tight rubberbands can sure cut off the circulation if you have them on a long time. At least your rockslide was minor. I had a big one once, and the rocks already had corals on them - not much fun at all! Take a break, have a brew and relax!

Re: Reefmack's RSM 130

Your tank is one of the nicest I've seen. I hope mine gets as full and colorful someday.

I've been debating adding MHs, but I'm not sure how I would end up covering the top. I would miss having the Red Sea cover, because I love how it opens for cleaning.

Thanks bhazard! Your will look as good and most likely better with time! I think every tank is a unique beauty. I always seem to like other tanks better than mine, and there are some really fantastic RSMs out there, and more in the making.

Terry ~ It's kind of like cooking...when someone else does the cooking it seems to taste better? I can tell you though that following your tank thread and seeing how beautifull it was is one of the main reasons I wanted to start one!

Not only does every tank have its beauty, they also have their phases. A lot of pictures get posted when the tank is looking good. But there are also days when it may not look so good, but those pics are never posted.

No tanks start out colorful, they all grow into that

BTW, Hi Terry

Thanks for the compliment! As Clownfish518 said, these tanks do have phases, and at times don't always look the greatest. I've had my share of those. I know my tank's appearance has changed many times since I started it. I've replaced rock, changed some corals for others, etc. Sometimes it seems like making changes keeps me from getting bored with the tank LOL!

Re: Reefmack's RSM 130

Terry... are you still using your original ER Skimmer, just the sump or both?

Re: Reefmack's RSM 130

Hi Tom. Nope - I'm just running the Euro-Reef sump version. To keep costs down I only got a new cylinder built by Robbert, for my sump depth & cabinet dimensions - the pumps, hoses and mufflers came off of my back-of-the-tank model.

By the way, I'm back to playing with my previous non-SLR digital, and took a couple pics and movies with it. I've never used the movie function on that camera before.

Some of my shrooms (one of my baby yumas bottom right):

My favorite acan (excuse the blobs of pink coralline on the glass):

Morning movie under the T5 actinics only:

And a couple under the T5s plus the MH:

I wish if I knew if there was a way to adjust color on movie files? They never seem to look natural.

Re: Reefmack's RSM 130

Yeah - I wish I hadn't spent a lot of money on the Canon and lenses, when I already had a very capable camera that can do a lot of things the digital DSLR can't. It's that dang reef addiction!

But, the spending will need to slow down now. I have a week and a day left to work before I take my retirement starting September 1. I'm really looking forward to that, but not living on less income. I look at it as more time for tank maintenance, and not being forced to get it done on weekends. At least I'm about out of space for corals!

Congratulations on the retirement! Just think you don't have to wake up to an alarm everyday. No asking for vacation time. You've done your time now enjoy.
