| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: Red Sea Max 250 nanoreefsrcool - several folks have done some minor mods to the original RSM 34 gallon, and some have upgraded the skimmer and lighting. But, many have done nothing much with good success. Based on excellent reviews on the improvements incorporated into the new RSM 130D model, and seeing the layout of the new RSM 250, it should be a winner. If you get one be sure to start a thread on it!

| Tuxedo Urchin | Re: Red Sea Max 250 Having seen the RSM 250 for a year in our labs, I can safely say they don't need any mods at all. That doesn't mean people won't want to play with them and change things, but we have some amazing sps coral growth with the M250 and it's very low maintenance. |

| RS Sponsor | Re: Red Sea Max 250 nanoreefsrcool, That 20 tank is really nice! Yes, it looks like a tank that will not need any adjustments as far as lighting changes. I can vouch for their new skimmer! It kicks butt! I am really happy with the new 130D. It's a great tank! I am sure the 250 will be superb as well!!! |

At the moment I've got an African Cichlid tank (540L) which I consider too much of a hassle to clean since it takes around 3 hours every time I do it. I was hoping to "downgrade" to a 250L tank but also take the dive into the Marine world. Currently I only do maintenance on my tank every 2 months since it does not actually require any more than that (things also seem to go wrong when I do more than that). I'm desperate to see a chronicle/build thread/diary on the RSM250 to get a feel for the amount of effort required. The RSM 130 seems to require a lot tighter control than I'm prepared to exercise at this stage. Can you confirm or deny that there's less maintenance on the RSM 250 than the RSM 130? Also there's been murmurings about an RSM 250D - are there any truths to this and if so what would the so called Deluxe features be? Another useful question would be if the if these Deluxe additions would be retrofittable to the standard 250D as I believe this is a problem with the 130 models. | |
