Re: Microbubbles in your RSM? Check here!

Is the Tunze 9002 new? Like most, if not all, skimmers they tend to put out bubbles till they break in. Just guessing, but with only one pump going, the bubbles may be having a chance to rise to the surface, with a slower flow going through the back.

Yep, but if there are only a few I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Microbubbles in your RSM? Check here!

To solve Microbubbles... my best tip is ... get that water level up there... way up there... till the water level is at top line in the window on a 130D.

Re: Microbubbles in your RSM? Check here!

Hello everybody, I just joined the forum 5 minutes ago. First post.
I am a new 130D RSM owner since a month. Microbubbles everyday, sometimes a lot, sometimes less, but always there.
-I experienced with the waterlevel high/low
-checked the inlets of the pumps: their always 100% free
-changed the stock skimmer for a Tunze 2009

Skimmer on or out doesnt matter.
I think their is only one possibility left: cavitation.
Somehow the pumps have a underpressure on the inlet, this might has to do with the inlet pipes (water resistance) or/and the pumps have a design problem.

I HATE BUBBLES and will not rest/put animals in the tank before this problem is solved. I am gonna put a different kind of pump next week with a T split tubing in the chamber of death and keep you posted.

Re: Microbubbles in your RSM? Check here!

Hello, as a new mwmber to the RC, and to the RSM Owners.

Has anyone yet developed a plan to rid the system of either micro or as i call it white out conditions.

I have followed all the advice given on here less extend the inlet pipes.

I live in a small town so the LFS has the market cornered......after shelling out over $1,200.00 for a system and to be let down is not a funny experience.

Yes why the circulation pumps out let hole were not lowered in the orginal design baffles me to begin with.

I am allowing this another month and see what I have for options.

Cheers

Where to start??

Check the pumps aren't restricted.

Check the mechanical filter isn't blocked.

Check that your water level is as high as it can be (move the surface skimmer up as far as possible and top up the water).

Is the Carbon bag (if you are using it) isn't floating up under the pumps.

Are they continues bubbles or intermittent?

Photo's might help to sort it.

Roger

I did seal the top and bottom with aquarium sealant in my new tank before I set it up.

I don't have any micro bubbles in this tank.

Are you sure it's not the skimmer causing the micro bubbles because it's not bedded in yet?

I have also heard stories that using Redsea salt helps.

Roger

Re: Microbubbles in your RSM? Check here!

Chimo192 - Welcome! maybe you should try the tubing extensions on the pumps? 2 different lengths might stop any cavitation. Be sure to use a 12-14 inch plastic cable tie around the pumps, to keep the weight of the tubing from pulling the bottom off. Some good ideas from Whipitup as well.

supermarlin - welcome to you too! Is there anything in your tank to generate organics to skim? if there's nothing to skim microbubbles are almost inevitable, especially if the skimmer hasn't broken in yet. Do the bubbles stop if you shut the skimmer off?

Very well Reefmack,

Does anyone know the outside diameter of the inlet tubing?

Chimo192 - tell me how high you have your water? When you look in the water level window, what mark are you running it at?
