| RS Sponsor | Hi all, I am new to the forum and wanted to Thank ReefMack for the welcome! He directed me to this thread. There looks to be tons of information on here are the Max tank! Great! I will read it all!!!!! I have been a hobbyist of over 20 years. Marine tanks have come a long way indeed. Always, I have pieced together my systems. I have kept Acropora tanks with 800 watts of light and Deltec skimmers, to basic tanks with Flourescent lighting. Well, as my schedual is so hectic, I have decided on a nano tank. After looking at all the Nano tanks and visiting Reef-A-Palooza a few weeks ago in California I decided on the RedSea Max 130D. After reading the specs and some of the research done, I thought I would give the Red Sea 130D a shot! I am thinking I will get it this week. If not, next week for sure. Sounds like a well built system, and I got to compare it will all the others at the reef show. No comparison, the others looked like toys compared to the RedSea Max. So, I have a 1/10th horse chiller, Tunze Osmolator and a few other things awaiting it's arrival. This tank should be able to sustain Acropora and many other challenging corals from what I have read and seen. I purchased this tank due to its simplicity and ease of maintenance. Also, having good quality parts right from the start. I am hoping lighting and skimmer will be on par with what's needed to keep some of the more delicate corals! I would love to share pics and info with everyone here upon its arrival. RedSea seems to be really making some quality aquariums and supplies lately. I am very anxious to try out their test kits and supplements that come with the aquarium. I have been a Salifert person for quite some time. Having some Jewish blood in me makes me all the more excited!!!! Thank you |

| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: Red Sea Max 130D in route redseareef - it'll be great to see the new 130D in action! The RSM is indeed a well built tank, and if you got the matching cabinet that is well built and sturdy as well. I've seen quite a few owners that have been successful with even Acropora with the standard RSM lighting. Just my opinion but I found I prefer other test kits for a few things - especially alkalinity. I found the Red Sea alkalinity test to not be precise enough, so I went to Salifert on that one. It sounds like you already have a lot of experience so we may be looking to you for some help on things! Good luck with the new 130D! By the way - steveh of the Red Sea staff stops in here when he gets time, and he has "revived" his older RSM and has started it up again. If you haven't seen his thread here's the link: RSM- by the book Keep us posted on your 130D - hopefully it will arrive soon.

| RS Sponsor | Re: Red Sea Max 130D in route Reefmack, Yes, I did indeed get the matcvhing cabinet! Saw it in person and thought it looked pretty solid! I love the shelf inside too! I really think the look of the tank and combined stand really has a nice presence! I thought it actually made the tank look much larger then it actually is! I also got the kit with it as well. I have already spoke with Steveh. Great guy, and tries to answer all the questions you can throw at him, lol. I am still waiting on a few questions to be answered! I think I made a good decision going with the Max! Still no call yet from the freight guys! Hmmmm, wonder if they deliver on Saturdays? Lynn, Yes, will do! I plan on doing some testing right off the bat on the skimmer. Want to see just how good it performs. Sounds like they got the numbers right on the air/seawater ratio! Should be anice little beast! Thanks |

| Tuxedo Urchin | Re: Red Sea Max 130D in route Test kits: Reefmack- fair comment on the Alkalinity test but I probably need to update you on something: The original Alkalinity test we offered (and still do), which includes a free pH test, is designed far more with the marine fishkeeper in mind than the reefkeeper. The test is indicative rather than a titration test which provides far more precise readings. We have a new Alkalinity Pro test specifically for reefkeepers and it is both easy to use and very accurate (to 0.04ppm). It works by titration and I have been using it for some time with really great results. It's been available in the UK for some time and has received very good press. I am sure it's also available in the USA, so may be worth a try. The other reef tests are also really cool (Calcium PRO, Magnesium and the new test for Iodine, which rocks!) You can check out all the new test kits on www.redseafish.com |

| Tunicate | Whats up reefers? I'm looking to also purchase the Red Sea Max 130d with the new cabinet style, But I was told by Red Sea rep that the new style cabinet, With the multiple grooves across the front was not even shipped from over seas yet, and won't be for months! She stated that they are shipping the older model totem cabinet with the 130d. If anyone knows where I can get the new style cabinet with 130d please advise me. Thanks Tread LI NY |
