| Achilles Tang | Re: Just got done setting up my RSM! Thanks Reefmack. I still haven't done any WC yet since I set up the tank(almost 3 weeks ago). Should I do one soon? I'll be checking my water parms. later and see if I need one. I also noticed that there is like centipede looking worm on one of the LR. It has a dark color. Any ideas? I took a pic but you can barely see it.

| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: Just got done setting up my RSM! If it's been 3 weeks, if it were me I'd do a water change, but that's just my own opinion. I try to do 3-4 gallons every weekend, and haven't missed many. The centipede thing sounds like a bristleworm - good for keeping the tank free of uneaten food, etc., but if you touch one by mistake you'll get some bristles stuck in you and it's a bit painful but not terribly so. That's why I wear gloves if I'll be moving rock or corals around. I've only been stuck once and it wasn't bad. I've been stung worse by my frogspawn and other Euphyllia a few times, and now I'm more careful around them.

| Achilles Tang | Thanks for the heads up on the bristle worm. I found another one on the other LR. I haven't check my water parameters so I'll wait 'til I check it later tonite. I'm planning on doing a 5 gallon WC weekly/bi-weekly? My LFS has natural sea water for 90 cents a gallon. I'll try their water 1st then I have Seachem reef salt for down the road WC. Thanks again Reefmack.

| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: Just got done setting up my RSM! Well, it sure got coral-populated quickly! Looks nice. I'm not sure how often water changes are needed. Like I said I do one on most weekends, but I got lazy and for a month or two have been skipping a week here and there, mostly because I've been too busy with other things. I've seen some really good cell phone pictures - amazing how much better cell phone cameras have gotten!

| Achilles Tang | Re: Just got done setting up my RSM! Yeah, that's all packed in before on my 10 gallon hex tank..LOL..The corals look soo much happier 'cause of all the room they have. I'm soo glad that I upgraded to an RSM tank. I can't wait for the upgraded parts to go on sale so I can get them and maybe start using my stock skimmer. I still have to move my maroon clown and the 2nd batch of CUC from my 10 gal. I'll be taking down my 10 gallon soon after I transfer the rest of my LS and I'll try to get some credit for the rest of my LR when I visit my LFS tomorrow. Reefmack, what's a good Auto Top Off unit for the RSM? Do you use one? How often do you change your filter pad? Thanks.

| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | Re: Just got done setting up my RSM! Mavjoy - I use a Tunze Osmolator for top off and I'm happy with it. JBJ makes a lower cost one that is also rated highly. Or there are DIY kits available if you're into putting your own stuff together. On the filter pad, I guess I change mine every 3-4 days, when I see the water level in the pump chamber starting to drop too much, or if I see increased microbubbles (which is just an indication that the level is getting too low in the pump chamber).

| Achilles Tang | Reefmack- I'll check on the tunze and see. I was checking the JBJ and it looks ok and not too expensive. I keep my water on the return pump chamber right below the pump unit. Man, the pad gets all dirty pretty quick which is a good thing(its working). I'm expecting my new set of bulbs today and some Cyclo-peeze. Is Cyclo-peeze any good for feeding fish and corals? What do you use? I'll post more random pics later today.
