| NaClH2O Addicted ![]() | MJ1200 pump mod A few owners have replaced one of the RSM powerheads with an MJ1200, to get increased flow. Only one MJ1200 will fit and still allow the other RSM pump to also be used. I haven't done this mod myself, and can't remember who originated it, but I have some pictures originally posted by SWFish. MaxiJet 1200 on the right with a piece of the RSM black foam to support it in back and keep it pushed flush to the tank wall... stock pump on the left.... both secured with 12" plastic cable ties because the extra weight of the 3/4" ID tube extensions that are added to each pump would otherwise pull off the bottom pump fittings. These get the water intakes low enough to prevent pump starvation caused microbubbles: ![]() (I have done the pump extension mod - quite simple to do that one alone - you just need 2 pieces of the 3/4" ID tubing about 4" long, and 2 plastic cable ties that are 12" long.) What I can't recall is what, if anything, had to be done to the fitting of the MJ1200 that is inserted through the hole in the back wall. In this picture SWFish had a Hydor Koralia attached to it: ![]() As just posted in the club thread by BryceK, Here is a link to another pump mod done by an owner mbdave. This one uses some fittings to sink a single MJ1200 pump down into the pump chamber and feed both of the RSM powerhead fittings. It also eliminates the chance of pump caused microbubbles by have the MJ1200 severakl inches below the water level: Another MJ1200 Pump Mod Both good mods.
