Re: Ask Red Sea

Hey Matthew, we had a few delays due to waiting for carton translations from distributors (one of the downsides to dealing with 60+ countries!). Anyway, I am going to get an update shortly and suspect it will be January. Watch this space. There's details of the surface skimmer, including a review of it, on www.redseamax.com

no problem. I have to run my water levels pretty high in order to get good skim and the end result is a very nasty thick film on the water. I'm really hoping the new skimmer box will fix this

Re: Ask Red Sea

The new surface skimmer will definately resolve this. I would also suggest pointing one nozzle up at the surface and the other one downwards, so ensure you get surface agitation

Re: Ask Red Sea

How long should the lights in my 130D last? My tank has only been set up for one month, and one bulb is not working.

Re: Ask Red Sea

Definitely not normal. Like any fluorescent lamps, while not a warranty item there is definitely no way it should go this quickly. Please email me with your details, plus date of purchase & shop. (steveh@redseafish.com)

Re: Ask Red Sea

Thank You Steveh - the bulb was not seated properly, we pushed it in more firmly and it seems to be working now.

Re: Ask Red Sea

I seem to be having an RSM stock heater issue. My temp is always 77-79 degrees, this morning it was 73. The operation light is lit and I increased thermostat and still no increase in temp. Please help!

Re: Ask Red Sea

How are you measuring the temperature? You might pick up one of those cheap floating glass thermometers (and a new heater) and verify it's not the thermometer that's broken. You should have a backup heater just in case anyway, even if the RedSea one is still under warranty.

Re: Ask Red Sea

I am using two seperate coralife digi thermometers and both have identical readings. I put another spare in with RSM stock heater and temp is now 78.2, is there a consistant heater out there that may be recommended? Thanks!

Re: Ask Red Sea

steveh - on the new cabinet ventilation fan - any idea on how it installs? Does it need a cutout made in the cabinet or does it fit the width of the opening in the back of the 130 cabinet? Thanks.

Re: Ask Red Sea

The new Cabinet Ventilation kit will easily fit into the M130 cabinet. It is supplied with a low voltage transformer and fixing bolts. It really makes a difference to the efficiency and longevity of chillers.
