| Tunicate | Re: Ask Red Sea Hi Steve, The moonlights on my RED SEA MAX have stopped working. Sometimes the left one will come on but the right one (closest to the skimmer gate) does not work at all. I was wondering if you could help me source bulbs for it? I don't want to try to fit something into the tank that wouldn't be waterproof so I thought I would give you a shout. The hood on the tank is a replacement I got from Interpet around the 28th April 2008, the initial hood had fan and timer problems and was replaced by yourselves. The tank has not been in use since October 2008 as I was away for a year. I have started to set the tank up again and have now noticed this problem. The serial number of my MAX is 01673. Are these LEDs hard to fit? Thanks, Jason |

Hopefully, one day in the not to distant future a Red Sea Rep will re-appear...

My name is Kevin Davies and I will be looking after the Ask Red Sea forum now taking over from Steve who is just so busy these days. Firstly please accept my apologies for the problem you are experiencing with you Max, if you'd like to PM me your address I'll arrange for a replacement LED harness to be sent to you, I will also send via e-mail a set of instructions for splitting the hood but I must point out that replacing the LED's should be undertaken by a electrically qualified person. Foot note for any body else wanting to take there Max hoods apart please feel free to PM your e-mail address and I will forward you a set of hood instructions. Kev | |

| Tunicate | Welcome Kevin! The answer to this question may have been answered several posts back but I need to know the possibilities for a light upgrade, where to get them, and the resulting options for a chiller. I run the RSM 34g. It is the original model, I have had it for approx. 2 yrs, looking to get more output for my corals and also a light that will require less replacements over time(unless all lights need to be replaced every 6-8 months). Thanks Guys! |

I was going write an extensive post on why not to upgrade the lights on your Max 130 saying how the aquarium already has a very good tried and tested lighting system for keeping a number of SPS and LPS type corals etc etc then I think it's fair to say you have come up with an Eureka moment! yes most defiantly get yourself a Max 250, as for your question about advise, open box remove and read instructions setup and enjoy the Max 250 experience you won't be disappointed. again worthy note regarding any T5 type lamps either compact or normal length look to be changing them out sometime after 9 months but defiantly before 12 months your livestock with thank you for it trust me.
