Re: Ask Red Sea

steveh,
I'm looking to get a RSM by Christmas...I was operating under the assumption, perhaps false, that the 130D was already "out".
Can you give any timeline, to the nearest 6 months, of when you expect retailers to have this model in stock?
Also, will the price be the same or nearly the same?
Thanks for any info.

Arreola- we spoke to Vanguardia, and I believe they have been in touch. Regarding shipping dates for them, I don't have these but I am sure they will have told you all they know with regards to availability

Re: Ask Red Sea

Hey Sprinter, the Max 130D is due out in the next 2 weeks in the USA. You'll need to check the various lfs stores for pricing. If anyone wants info on the 130D then Red Sea USA can email out a tech sheet pdf.

Intranick- this forum really is for Max enquiries only so rather than start a thread which may not interest Max owners, I'll PM you.

Steveh -
I talked to Vanguardia last week, and they told me that in aprox 50 days they will recieve the replacement parts for the RSM.

Any news on when the 250 will be available?
Regards
Arreola

Re: Ask Red Sea

Steve.. I just called Pinky about the new surface skimmer upgrade. She said that it should be released in December. Would you let us know when it is available so I can order one? If there is a source in Europe that has them already, I wouldn't be opposed to trying to get it that way.

I saw where they are selling in Europe, as soon as we can get them here I too would like one, I think this is a good upgrade!

Re: Ask Red Sea

Steveh - I've been thinking about a wavemaker in the RSM. What exactly is the "safe start" mode that the Red Sea Wavemaster Pro uses to protect the powerheads? Any idea of the type of powerheads that can/can't be used with the RS Wavemaster? It seems like the standard Koralia pumps that many RSM owners use aren't recommended for stop/start type wavemaker controllers, and I was wondering if the "safe start" would eliminate that concern?

Re: Ask Red Sea

Hi Guys, England calling......
I believe we have a few questions to answer:
1. Intranick- I pm'd you about the skimmer but now realise this IS the appropriate forum for people to ask us general questions! Anyway, I think you got the info you need.
2. Surface skimmer- It's going to be in the USA as soon as anywhere else. Anyone advertising it right now is taking advance orders. For example on a couple of other forums we have retailers taking orders but their stock will not arrive any sooner than USA.
3. Wavemaker- the soft start slowly (relatively, anyway) starts the impeller which reduces the wear and tear. It's like easing through the gears on a car instead of flattening the throttle straight away (rubbish analogy but you get the idea). Sorry I can't help with advising on 3rd party items. Maybe worth posting on the equipment section to see if anyone has experience of this. I'll see if our US guys can offer any thoughts.

Replacement Bulbs
Hi all.
Since I can't get the original replacement bulbs for the RSM, I would like to know if there is any other bulbs that I can use to replace them?

Thank you
Arreola

Re: Ask Red Sea

Regarding the pumps to fit in the RSM, each market has so many options that it's best for me to suggest you ask your lfs to recommend a pump suitable for the size of chiller, and then have them confirm the dimensions. The majority of chiller pumps will fit in the compartment for MAX. Additionally you may wish to consider getting one of the new upgrades available which is the "accessory Kit". It's a neat hosetail set which clips into the back of the MAX to ensure kink-free hoses, and locks the hoses in to place. Should be available in the USA around the same time as the surface skimmer upgrade.

MAX lamps

Arreola, you may prefer to purchase your MAX lamps from the USA as they are (a)designed specifically to provide the right spectrum & intensity for MAX, and (b)are shorter than std length 55w PC lamps, making them far easier to fit inside the MAX. I believe they are widely available mail order, but if you have any problems try emailing Pinky at RS (pinky@redseafish.com). Cheers

Re: Ask Red Sea

steveh,

I'm very interested in the accessory "hosetail" set for the original RSM. I've had a looked at the RSM website (I'm also a member) but can't see where to or how to order it. Please advise.

Thanks
AS

Re: Ask Red Sea

steveh- hello there, I purchase my RSM used and I just noticed at my LFS brand new RSM tank that it has a black plastic cover for the wires. Mine did not have that cover and was wondering if Red Sea sells that piece. Should I contact Pinky from Red Sea? Thanks.
