6 lines have alot of character. Bluespot jawfish seem to be quite entertaining as well. My six line got along with my Mandarins rather well but the six line managed to jam itself between two rocks and died.

If you want character, you want a lawnmower blenny. Not a lot to look at but they are comedians.

Re: which reef safe fish has the most personality?

I must respectively disagree with the previous posters.

My choice for fish with the best personality that is reef safe is a spotted hawk.

Once they get use to the tank they are always watching everything. This is why they are sometime called coral guards. They almost seem to be taking an interest in whatever you are doing. Like blennies and gobies, hawks have no swim bladder, so they prefer to perch some place. Feeding is not an issue and they usually rush to the food.

The one downside to hawks is that they will eat shrimp, so they can't be kept with cleaner shrimp and the like.

Even non-reef people that see my tank pick up on the two hawks I have in the system. They are all around favorites.

One other interesting thing. Spotted hawks and related species are the only ones that have a tasselled dorsal fin.

I have one and he is fun to watch. Like you said, I think he watches me as much as I watch him.

Re: which reef safe fish has the most personality?

If you have a big enough tank for a sailfin tang, I agree that they are most entertaining. Mine interacts with the world outside the tank and is so much fun to watch. Also, blue/pink spotted shrimp goby is very personable, wanders around on rocks and the bottom taking in everything that goes on!
