Oh....most likely...................but, I don't dump a whole lot of cash into this hobby........cause...."I CAN'T".............hence the lack of an RO/DI unit and skimmer etc etc............so...I'll just do my best and hope it lasts long enough for me to save up my pennies, hoping nothing else comes up that needs them.

Re: How often do you test, Santa's watching

I test weekly because I am too big a coward to do it less often. My wife made me stop doing it every day. I also always take water whenever I go to the LFS and have them test it (free). Better safe than sorry. I will be in front of the tank anyway, why not be doing something useful? Testing helps me keep my arm out of the tank by occupying it in another way

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: How often do you test, Santa's watching

On average, once every three weeks. More when the tank is new/cycling, less when it has matured/stabilized. I could tell by smell and livestock behavior if I needed to test after three years.

Re: How often do you test, Santa's watching

Well, I just got a new 5in1 cheapo kit. The only reason I finally did this is cause the cat stole mine. So I'm thinking, now I'll test regularly. ( a little voice inside my head says Don't look back, you can never look back )

Re: How often do you test, Santa's watching

Hopefully Zack won't take this one. I'm surprised he took the other one. I was putting in the sump, and had everything out on teh floor, much to his delight. He was playing with the vinyl snakes and some time rolled it away. I looked under the couch and everything.
